Having a poor memory I can just enjoy a good story while it washes over me. They got the look and sound just right and I'm not going to notice contradictions, short of declaring that war changes.

Hollywood ruins everything." Instead, we'll say "Wow, the people who did this are incompetent hacks who shouldn't be allowed near a camera again."

My entire point was that Fallout is so inconsistent to begin with that minor discrepancies are just part of the landscape - not flaws.

I find that not noticing helps a lot. Helped by the fact that I generally can't be bothered to read all those emails on that computer I hacked. I just wanted to unlock the door! I could probably give a very vague overview of Fallout 4 at this point, but I doubt I could come up with even a basic concept of what happened in any of the other games. In the original, I needed to get the thing before the thing happened. Pretty sure it was a part that I assume was out of warranty.

There were bad guys and I shot them. Well I hope they were bad guys. I shot them regardless.

A lot of the high-level lore in the games is nothing but personal recollections, anecdotes in logs, and conspiracy theories shared from person to person. It gives a lot of wiggle room for the developers to simply wave some low-level functionary's email exchange aside as hearsay later on.

A lot of the low-level lore (like what products look like) gets changed every time they put out a new game. Nuka-Cola bottles look like Coke bottles rockets. Chem that gives damage resistance? That's morphine Med-X. 50s aesthetic? Barely present before Fallout 3. There is only one are many Deathclaw(s), and it can speak they are dumb animals. Oh, and caps? Those are based on the water standard - one cap is an IOU for one bottle of water valuable in and of themselves for some reason.

In other words, if something doesn't match established lore, or a product looks different, or whatever, it's not really significant anyway.
