Looks like they've been busy in California:
Trying to find information about their immigration status, but I'm guessing they're all U.S. citizens and not "illegals".Forty-two members of what prosecutors call a San Fernando Valley-based white supremacist gang have been arrested in connection with a federal indictment unsealed Wednesday alleging a years-long criminal operation that included drug trafficking, weapons violations and COVID-19 and loan fraud.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 29 people named in the indictment were arrested Wednesday in a series of raids involving the Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies. Thirteen other defendants were already in custody, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the gang has been allied with the Aryan Brotherhood and Mexican Mafia, and its members use "Nazi tattoos, graffiti and iconography to indicate their violent white supremacy extremist ideology."
...
During the investigation, law enforcement seized "large quantities of illegal firearms, and dozens of pounds of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin," prosecutors said.

I'm amazed that a white supremacist gang would ally themselves with the Mexican Mafia. What kind of mental gymnastics allows that?Smoove_B wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2024 7:19 pm Looks like they've been busy in California:

I think this goes here?
Federal emergency response personnel on Saturday had employees operating in hard-hit Rutherford County, N.C., stop working and move to a different area because of concerns over “armed militia” threatening government workers in the region, according to an email sent to federal agencies helping with response in the state.
Around 1 p.m. Saturday, an official with the U.S. Forest Service, which is supporting recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sent an urgent message to numerous federal agencies warning that “FEMA has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately. The message stated that National Guard troops ‘had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA.’”

I think he's referring to things like the National Guard, which used to be a civilian entity formed for the protection of and service to their individual states until it was absorbed by the military.

Nope. I'm talking about all of these local militias who always claimed to activate and train for and act on community service, etc. This (and the Bundy ranch crap) really shows them for not being what they claim to be and take false pride in. Michigan militia and other factions always talked about acting as emergency response and community outreach and not being about guns. Talking the talk and walking the walk are different beasts though. Sadly, I've paid attention to local militias ever since the Oklahoma bombing.

I saw this earlier. More fallout of the Trump & Co. misinformation campaign. I wonder if Trump personally spreading this message could cost him North Carolina.

I'm not seeing any indication that this is having any type of measurable impact on his chances, no. Certainly not in the national news media - and yes I know they have their own angle here but they're complicit at this point.
Fucking hell, the NYT is talking about Trump's "fascination with genetics" like he's some kind of scientist and not spewing Eugenics at his goddamn rallies.
I f-ing can't anymore.
Militia and 1/6 rioters are going to usher in the next President because we're not sure if we should do anything that might violate their 1A rights as they plot violence against Americans.

Ok, good - we managed to get someone:
But then:A man is being charged after being accused of threatening FEMA workers in western North Carolina, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 12:54 p.m. on Saturday, deputies got a report of a man with an assault rifle who made a comment about possibly harming FEMA workers providing Hurricane Helene disaster relief in the area of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.
Investigators went to the location where the threat was made in Polk County, obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and shared it with other law enforcement.
The suspect was later identified as William Jacob Parsons, 44, of Bostic. Parsons was taken into custody and charged with going armed to the terror of the public.
I give up.Parsons was given a $10,000 secured bond. He has since made bond and has been released from custody.

Speaking on conservative radio on Monday, Trump went on an incredibly racist rant about bloodlines while speaking about immigrants. “You know, now a murderer, I believe this, it’s in their genes. And we got a lot of bad genes in our country right now. They left, they had 425,000 people come into our country that shouldn’t be here, that are criminals.”
But the paper of record minimized the true horror of that comment, summarizing that Trump was “invoking his long-held fascination with genes and genetics.”
The Times received plenty of flack online for its whitewashing of the Republican nominee’s dangerous lies about immigrants and his white supremacist rhetoric.

Arizona man charged over three shootings on Democratic office
A man suspected of carrying out three shootings targeting a Democratic campaign office in Arizona was arrested and charged with terrorism offences among others, authorities said.
Jeffrey Michael Kelly, 60, allegedly had more than 120 guns and over 250,000 rounds of ammunition in his home, including a machine gun that was in his car, leading prosecutors to believe he was planning a "mass casualty" event.
Nobody was hurt during the spate of shootings, although the attacks led to the closure of the campaign building in Tempe, in the suburbs of Phoenix.
...
In a search of Mr Kelly's home, along with the large seizure of arms, agents also found scopes, body armour and silencers, said Deputy Maricopa County Attorney Neha Bhatia. This led authorities to fear he was planning a bigger attack.
Among other offences, Mr Kelly is also accused of using razor blades to line campaign signs in a nearby village, and hanging these signs with suspicious white powder.
His lawyer told the court that his client had no criminal record and was licensed to own firearms.
Mr Kelly “probably would fit the definition of a genius, and not the type of menacing, cartoonish one as described by the state,” the lawyer was quoted as saying by the New York Times.

Well, yes, of course. National Guard, DHS, law enforcement, and well armed FEMA workers. The problem is that it drives up the cost substantially. So not only are these terrorists threatening lives, they are also wasting taxpayer dollars.
Or, in cases where there aren't enough resources to protect the workers, they are robbing people of much needed federal support.

News article for those that like that sort of thing.
"Driven by a racially motivated extremist ideology, the defendant allegedly planned to attack the power grid with a drone and explosives, leaving thousands of Americans and critical infrastructure like hospitals without power,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “The FBI’s swift work led to the detection and disruption of the defendant’s plot before he could cause any damage. We are committed to hold accountable anyone who threatens or plans harm to critical infrastructure or seeks to hurt American communities through domestic violent extremism.”

He was wirh undercover assets and went to the substation to carry out the attack. He was arrested in the back of a vehicle with a drone and armed pipe bomb. Zero doubt he would have carried out the attack.
