Because we have Paramount+ temporarily to catch up on Star Trek, I asked Wife if she wanted to see the new Frasier show. I don't care about it myself but she was a big fan of the old one. To my surprise she can't stand to watch it because Kelsey Grammar has some reprehensible qualities that I knew nothing about.

Hmm..I dont know them and dont want to. My wife loved the original Frasier and watched it through two or three times. Dont want to hear of anything that could smudge my memories of her loving it.

And I still say that Reacher (at least S1 - I haven't seen 2) is the best on-screen representation of a high-functioning autistic person I've seen. And yes, I'm talking about Jack Reacher himself.
Might have something to do with Tom Cruise being the antithesis of the oft-described Reacher from the books. The series actor is spot-on. And you are right about the autistic part, although the books never explicitly explore this.

Nor does the show, which is what makes it such a good representation. This is a strong character with autistic qualities that simply show as quirks of his personality (just like real autists.) Most other representations of autism, even the good ones, have characters whose primary function is to have autism. Every time they're active as a character, the topic is autism.

I'd say that the next closest might be Abed from Community. His quirks are still what his character is about, but that can be said for almost every character in the show, so he isn't being singled out for being different.

Next season of Reacher will be based on seventh book Persuader. It's being filmed now and is slated for some time in 2025.

I finished season 1 a few days back and was very very pleased with it. Bit Ive been hesitating starting season 2. I cant recall what I read but I know s2 was not so warmly welcomed and reviewed.

I guess I will watch it as its about Reacher and his old team. What are your thought on it OO?

Season 2 is good. Not spectacular, but no big drop off, and it is entertaining. Plus Reacher is is now an established character, so little backstory is required. His team is mostly enjoyable.

Trailer for season 3 is out:

Persuader is one of better Reacher novels so hopefully they do it justice. I just re-read it recently, it's a definitely a standout, both in terms of story and setting. The trailer is pretty short but already looks better than season 2 (which wasn't that bad but the ensemble cast just didn't work at all).

I was hoping season 3 would cover Reacher letting himself go and looking more like us. A trailer with Reacher having to stop every 9th stair to catch his breath would have gone a long way towards establishing a bond with us. Maybe show him throwing out his back after standing up too quickly? Using an exaggerated rocking motion to slingshot out of bed each morning?

Episode titles like "Reacher vs. His 40s" and "Once I Drop Something, It's Gone" would also work.

Edit: I can't stop.

There's a couple of early Reacher novels my library (or prior libraries) never got, this might be one of them. I've liked the two seasons so far, although the first made for better TV than the second.

Currently reading a collection of Lee Child short stories -- non-Reacher stories. Many of them are a bit too short -- the stories abruptly end just as I'm getting into it.
