Mongolian folk metal band The Hu covers Iton Maiden’s “The Trooper”
When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.

Re: Awesome covers
Had no idea folk metal was even a thing...
Now for a twist. I've never heard of this Australian band the Easybeats, but the Mona Lisa Twins strike again by covering one of their songs..

For me, nothing will ever top this folk metal cover from Turisas.

I have the Easybeats version on Spotify. You can tell it's the Sixties by "spend my bread."Rumpy wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:02 pm Had no idea folk metal was even a thing...

Re: Awesome covers
So, how does it compare to the original? I've never come across the song before.

Wow. That was a big rock song locally growing up and then stuck around as a big classic rock song. It was played on AOR long long after it should have relegated to oldies, probably because it had a protopunk feel to it that sustained in the 70s and 80s and was anthemic for bringing in the weekends.Rumpy wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 2:29 pm So, how does it compare to the original? I don't remember ever hearing it on the radio while growing up in the 80's and 90's, and I used to listen to the radio a lot back then.LordMortis wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 4:48 pmWow. Woah, The Sword got back together! At least long enough to record this killer cover of Tull’s “Locomotive Breath”.
