They've been spotted over a number of military bases around the country. The military isn't sure what do so. They could try and shoot them down or use ECM, but there are a lot of civilians around and what if a drone crashes and kill someone, or they fire weapons at them and the missed shot come down on people. THere's no easy solution.

Re: Mystery Drones
As another NJ resident I can confirm it's kinda weird and I feel like maybe we're being told half the story.
I do think there are people that own drones that enjoy the attention this is getting so they're out at night randomly flying their personal drones around to see if it makes the news or local social media (it does). I also think lots of people are confusing planes for drones - pretty much anything in the sky is being photographed at this point and claimed to be a drone - including Starlink satellites.
But when you account for all those, there's still something wacky going on and that's where I think we're not being told the whole truth. When police and military are saying they have no idea what they're seeing and then follow that up with "the general public isn't in any danger", I'm not sure how you can conclude that.
Anyway, based on where I live (among the Hill People), it's only a matter of time before someone takes a shot at one of these things, because America.

All I can say is that if the US military doesn't know what to do about drones buzzing around their facilities, then they're in for a hell of a wake-up call sooner or later.

I wound up on the weird part of Reddit last week and apparently there was a major prediction that the public alien contact event was beginning. So... it's definitely that.

This. If its foreign powers using drones to surveillance US military places then they must be shot down no matter the danger to civilians. You can't let these people fly their little drones around getting all the data they want then bringing it back to them and using the net to send pics and video overseas instantly. Shoot those suckers.....really if its a military base then there shouldn't be civilians to worry about anyways.Max Peck wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 6:31 pm All I can say is that if the US military doesn't know what to do about drones buzzing around their facilities, then they're in for a hell of a wake-up call sooner or later.

I walked out of my house the other day and directly ahead in the sky was a small silver orb-looking thing, way off in the distance. And just was I was trying to really figure out what the hell I was looking at, it disappeared. Like was there, and then wasn't there. In broad daylight.
For the record I am a complete UFO skeptic, but I did not know what to make of that. I tried to rationalize maybe a balloon, but it was completely stationary and also vanished. Sun glinting off a plane, and then angle changed? Maybe, but it looked perfectly round. I told my wife and she was like "Yeah, whatever." So now I know why all the UFO witnesses feel like everyone thinks they're crazy.

Reddit's UFO and Alien fringes are so active now that they're bleeding into the regular old feed.
I didn't dig deep, but it really looks like people are seeing what they want to see. The true believers are going all-in, but there's a lot of discussion of (e.g.) how any videos taken close enough to the mystery drones feature a tell-tale drone-copter sound.

Hpw big are these things? Are they Predator sized? Or just commercial/consumer quad copter sized? If they are the former then yes, risk to civilians but shoot them down anyway if they're that freaking big! If the latter, little risk to civilians so shoot them down.Grifman wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 1:23 amYou still have the problem of drones crashing and potential injury and damage.LawBeefaroni wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 5:40 pmThey could use drones to take them down but I imagine getting drone and pilot on scene in time is tricky.Grifman wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 5:13 pm They've been spotted over a number of military bases around the country. Have no idea if this is accurate, but I read yesterday that some of them were the size of SUVs.
The cops/whomever could figure out who the CEO (accused) killer was and tell us everything about his life within days. But, nobody (including the military), can figure out what these things are and where they're coming from? B.S.

Re: Mystery Drones
The case has been cracked wide open -- it's an Iranian mothership!
Eventually it must have occurred to him that he sounded like a crackpot, because he went on to walk things back just a tad.The mysterious drone sightings across several counties in New Jersey during recent weeks were launched by an Iranian “mothership,” according to a congressman who spoke to Fox News on Wednesday. And while it seems like a completely outlandish claim given everything we know publicly right now, this isn’t some random crank on the internet. It’s an elected leader in the U.S. who sits on powerful committees and claims to have sources who can be trusted.
The mysterious flying vehicles have blinking lights and have sometimes been described as being as large as a car. Walt Miller, chief of police in New Jersey’s Evesham township, gave a press conference Friday where he said cops have been flooded with calls about the flying objects. But it’s unclear to most people who might be behind them.
At least it was unclear until Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Republican from New Jersey, said Wednesday that he knows for certain what they are. Rep. Drew is a member of the U.S. House Transportation Subcommittee on Aviation and says he has reliable information that these drones are from a hostile source.
“I’ve gotten to know people and from very high sources, very qualified sources, very responsible sources, I’m going to tell you the real deal,” Van Drew said, prefacing his remarks on Fox News while talking with Harris Faulkner.
“Iran launched a mothership, probably about a month ago, that contains these drones. That mothership is off the east coast of the United States of America. They’ve launched drones—this is everything that we can see and hear. Again these are from high sources, I don’t say this lightly.”

The claim "I have this from highly-placed sources whom, for their own safety, I won't identify" is the one constant in every UFO conspiracy theory.
(Dude, if identifying them would put your "sources" in danger, you've just given the shadowy powers-that-be a clue to identifying them: you.)

I'm always worried the FAA will be aware of any transgression I commit while flying my little DJI Mini drone. If they can't even identify something as big as a car, it's probably misplaced worry.

Re: Mystery Drones
One theory ("theory") I saw is that the mothership is a large submarine. (Never mind that both the US Eastern seaboard and Iranian shipyards are among the most surveilled waters in the world. And that Iranian drones presumably wouldn't be running with bright lights on.)pr0ner wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:07 pm You'd think if they knew there was an "Iranian mothership" off the coast of the US it would have been captured or shot down already.
My inclination is to believe that there's a lot of mis-identification going on: planes and helicopters and Starlink and, yeah, clever civilian drones. It seems likely that the US is also testing and training with our own drones (as well as counter-drone tech) due to the importance of drone warfare as revealed in Ukraine.
That the Pentagon is very publicly throwing up its hands means nothing. "Yeah, sure, we'll freely admit that we have no idea what's going on" is not the Military-Industrial Complex way.

Re: Mystery Drones
It’s not just the Pentagon. Many of the sightings are around Picatinny Arsenal, and it’s not them doing it. There is absolutely no need to test drones over civilian populations. We have places to test this sort of stuff.
The problem is that as of yet, no one has broken the law. So there’s not much anyone can do,

It wasn't too long ago that they were scrambling fighter jets every day to shoot down unpiloted, free-drifting balloons (some of which turned out to be ordinary non-threats).
The government knows what these are. You can't on one hand say you have no idea where they came from, and on the other hand proclaim they're not from a foreign power and do not pose a threat. Utter bullshit.

Exactly. Fly a drone over the fence at Area 51 and see how long it takes before it's vaporized. And yet I'm supposed to believe they're allowing them to fly over active military bases in my state and shrugging their shoulders? Either they know exactly what they are and don't care (because they're US military / contractors) -or- they are immune to whatever anti-drone technology is in place at our military bases and they don't want to publicly communicate that and cause panic.YellowKing wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:31 pm The government knows what these are. Also:There have been "multiple" instances of drones entering the airspace at a Navy weapons station in New Jersey, officials there said Friday, as the concern continues to grow over widespread drone sightings in the region.
...
"While no direct threats to the installation have been identified, we can confirm multiple instances of unidentified drones entering the airspace above Naval Weapons Station Earle," Bill Addison, public affairs officer for the naval station, said in a statement to ABC News. "The base remains prepared to respond to any potential risks, leveraging robust security measures and advanced detection capabilities."
