Yes, that is normal - can take a couple business days. Same as if you went into the bank.

Went past an accident on I-95 today, a Cybertruck had rear ended some other vehicle. It occurred to me that there wasn't that much distance between the front of the truck and the driver's feet

I was reasonably happy in Michigan, but I always remember when the underboss at my bookstore announced that his wife had taken a job in Hawaii and that they would be moving there in a month.

The guy was walking on air for four weeks. None of us could blame him.

It's very interesting to me that Connecticut ranks so highly. I guess when I think about life here though, I have to admit that there aren't any glaring issues to complain about...good education systems, crime isn't a major issue, above average income and employment opportunities, and the weather is good most of the time. The occasional Nor'easter or blizzard can be a pain, but it's something we're all used to dealing with because it comes with the territory. Add in abundant outdoor recreation opportunities and proximity to two great cities (NYC and Boston), and It's actually a pretty nice place to live.

As for Hawaii topping the list, that doesn't surprise me at all. I've visited three times for a total of about six weeks and it really is an amazing place. The cost of living is very high and job opportunities may be limited, but the islands are a really special place... beautiful scenery, amazing ways to enjoy the outdoors (oceans and mountains), good food and generally very friendly people. Maybe the shine would wear off a little if you live there, but it's such a different lifestyle that I can easily see people being drawn in and never wanting to leave. Could I see myself living there? Maybe...but there would definitely be an adjustment period transitioning from the hectic New England pace to the laid back island vibe.

CT has the second-highest per capita income in the US, and the second-most-educated population. The unhappiest states have the lowest PCI. Money might not buy happiness but it dispels a lot of misery.

Got a letter from human services. Seems with food prices going up and no change in my income they've decided to lower my SNAP benefits. Nice of them...always thinking of the starving man. Aint like I dont have enough SNAP as is they go an lower it even more. Sigh.

It's usually not SNAP doing it. It's budgeting from elsewhere that forces them to cut benefits as the number of people in need goes up, while their supply of cash stays the same. And as the price of food goes up, the number of people in need goes up, too. It's like having 10 people that get $100 (so $1000 of SNAP's own budget), then finding that you've got 15 people and still only $1000 to share. Either they all get less ($66 x 15 = 1000), or they have the let the five new people starve. I wouldn't want to be the one making that call.

Be careful. In another year, the costs are going to skyrocket, the number of people in need is going to skyrocket, but I don't see the incoming administration agreeing to more of their budget to support the poor. He's previously attempted to cut SNAP by about a third, and this time his administration is even more cutthroat. And given that a significant number of people use SNAP, it also represents a meaningful chunk of the money going to grocers. If it gets cut, it could make prices go up even more.

Naturally, if anyone wants to continue on the topic of the last paragraph, it should probably be in the Trumponomics thread.

If there is a Brickfest Live event near you and you're considering going, I would very strongly suggest you reconsider. We took the kids yesterday and it was just a truly horrible event.

Even with pre-purchased "VIP" tickets, we still had to stand in line for over 2 hours just to get into the event. There were thousands of people there, and they only had two people scanning tickets at the entrance. When we did finally get in, we were met with even more 45-60 minute lines to complete one of the five "build events". These events are all very simple, not particularly interesting, and typically only take 5-10 minutes to finish...after standing in line for an hour.

There's about a half dozen large custom builds of mythical creatures (pegasus, cyclops, etc.) and one single table that had any sets on it to look at (i.e. the D&D set, the castle set, a couple Star Wars sets, the Jaws set, etc.). You could literally look at every build in the entire event in about 10 minutes. There were also several "building tables" scattered throughout with just a bunch of random Legos on them that the kids could build something.

There's a big Lego store, of course, which is wildly overpriced. The random minifig packs that cost $5 at literally every other store all cost $9 at the event, for example. I can only imagine what they were asking for the larger sets.

The only bright spot of the show was the 501st Legion in attendance in their really awesome Star Wars costumes. The kids were FAR more interested in that they were with any of the actual Lego events (and they're really into Legos right now).

It was an absolute waste of money. 0/8 tentacles, definitely do not recommend.

I started reading how the Michelin Star rating got started and decided to look up these food places. After a few min I started noticing that almost none of them post a menu online or prices. One place showed some dishes but no prices and one simply showed it was $750 to eat there...what lame giant ripoffs. And they seem ashamed of their pricing. They should be.

As much as I liked watching The Bear, I'm not a gourmet and will never have foodgasms over tiny portions of foofy food. I just don't appreciate the artistry that much. I've been to a couple of places that leaned in that direction and while I admire what they're doing, finding the best wings in the Berkshires is my kind of challenge.

I think I asked about these before but dont recall. Popsockets...thosebuttons that go on phones to help you hold them easier. i kinda want one but some prices seem really high. Like $10 for one seems excessive as Ive seen them $2 or $3. Is there a good site to buy one from cheap but good quality? Im looking on Popsocket . com right now.

That's the truth of it. These are eateries for people who don't care about prices, not for normal human beings.

I did eat at a 1 star Michelin place in Korea just to say I've been to one. It was nice enough. I could appreciate the artistry but it didn't make me want to try other Michelin places. If I was going back I'd much rather try some of the non-star chef's from Culinary Class War (well; non-star before the show).

I see my state of TN is almost the lowest rated. No surprise....this state sucks, the people are borderline insane or insanely dumb, and the government is a republics house of shit and assholes. They keep up behind the times by about 20 years if not more, they cheat on their spouses, drunk drive, embezzlement and still win by a large margin at election time.

We only go out to eat (sit-down restaurants) on special occasions, and even then it hurts my soul when the check comes. The other day we took my son out to a seafood place for his birthday. It's moderately upscale but not super fancy, and with tip it was about $180 for the four of us. What kills me is that I was strongly considering getting concert tickets for my wife for Xmas, but at $200 I couldn't justify it. Yet I wound up dropping nearly the same amount on one meal.

Now, I was happy to take my son to his favorite restaurant for his birthday, and I don't regret a special night out in celebration for him. He's a great kid and he deserves it. But man, I don't know how people do that on the regular.

We rarely go out to dinner, but we usually go out to lunch twice a week and the bill for the two of us each time is about $50 including tip. We figure in the past few years it's at least 50% more than we used to pay

We've been lucky. We have a really good Thai place near by that is very reasonable (~$15 for Pad Thai); and an Italian restaurant that is delicious, that has ridiculously low prices. ~$9 for sandwiches, ~$15 for meals.

Wow, I couldn't even go to a diner for a full breakfast special for $15 after tip, which has gone up to a 20% standard, I don't think. I think $11 plus $2 for a coffee is the floor for something like two eggs, toast, meat, and a potato. And, you know, eggs, so I can only imagine that going up from here as cage free becomes the mandate (January 5th in my state) and the bird flu runs its latest course. Eating out for me is like it was growing up in a family 7 in blue collar family. An exceptionally rare treat. It lost its ubiquitous affordability for me some time ago. And now I like the leisure of eating at home as well as preferring the cost. I think Red Robin has $9 (small) cheeseburger and (bottomless) fries on Tuesdays. That's about as inexpensive as sit down gets AFACT.

I guess that Chevrolet & Audi don't want their actual names associated with this?

I drove Hondas almost exclusively from 1990 through 2013. Since 2013 my wife has still owned Hondas (Odyssey, then CRV) but I've moved to driving Subaru Imprezas as my daily commuter. Other than the tires I got with my first one they've been pretty reliable.

Also, since Nissan is the only "red" brand not bunched at the top for reliability, no wonder they're planning to merge with Honda.

We always just tipped what we wanted when we tipped...usually a buck and change or 2 bucks. Sometimes they got a lucky rare 5 dollar bill.

I'll just point out there are 12+ companies with worse reliability, and worse warranties. That says a lot for Hyundai, imo. Especially when companies like BMW are 9th to Hyundai's 10th.

And without some sort of context and quantification, who knows what those reliability numbers mean. If it means 1 service call in 5 years or 1 service call in 4 or 6 years, that's not a huge difference, imo.

anyway, since it's a poll, it might as well be about how the cars make them feel.
