This is out now, but at that price I'll wait.

Shows up as $70CND. Ouch! That's $10 less than what I paid for RDR2 on the day of release.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
They're using the Call of Duty price model.
I get that they need to recover some costs for the adaptation, but I'm struggling with paying $50 USD for a 14 year old game that you can get for $10 on Xbox.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Yeah, a port of this nature should be in the $30-$40 range, especially given the age of the title. Even if it's the first time it appears on PC, there's no excuse for it to be this expensive.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
The excuse is that they're charging what the market will bear. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's sitting at #4 on Steam's top 100 best-selling games this week.
I'll likely pick it up when it goes on sale at a deep discount during some future Steam sale.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
The correct answer is to play RDR, then RD2, then right back to RDR.Grifman wrote:I'm excited but I'll probably wait for a sale - maybe.
But which should I play first, RDR or RDR2? Should I play them in order of release or in order of the time line?
I'm thinking I should play RDR first, mainly because after playing RDR2, RDR would probably be a step down in gameplay, which might be frustrating or disappointing.

i paid $3 for a used Xbox 360 copy of RDR found at a Half-Price Books Clearance section - i think that'll sufficeRumpy wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 1:14 pm Shows up as $70CND. Ouch! That's $10 less than what I paid for RDR2 on the day of release.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
Sure, but I feel what the market can bear is so subjective depending on the markets in question. Like, it's one thing for it to be $50 USD, but far less bearable at $70CND + perceived value.Max Peck wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 3:20 pm The excuse is that they're charging what the market will bear. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's sitting at #4 on Steam's top 100 best-selling games this week.

In other words, they charged what will end up being the 'correct' price, and the perceived value of releases like this will be high in the future.Max Peck wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 3:20 pm The excuse is that they're charging what the market will bear. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's sitting at #4 on Steam's top 100 best-selling games this week.
Not the fair price, not the expected price, but (from the perspective of them doing their job), the correct price.
Luckily, unlike the Call of Duty model, Rockstar does tend to have sales. Eventually.

Re: Red Dead Redemption
by no means was i countering this was a solution, but since you brought it up - Xenia (the primary Xbox 360 emulator on computer) has made great strides over the past years and the Xbox 360 version is around $7-15 on ebay. PS3 version is a bit cheaper and the PS3 emulator on cmputer (RPCS3) can also play it. https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title= ... Re: Red Dead Redemption
So it is on sale now. Is it worth the buy? I played it on Xbox years ago, I'm wondering if I'd enjoy it again.Rumpy wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:54 pm Yeah, a port of this nature should be in the $30-$40 range, especially given the age of the title. Also, how is the remaster? Janky or smooth?
Update: And would it be good with keyboard and mouse?

Re: Red Dead Redemption
I don't know about the PC version, but I played the PS4 version this year and I enjoyed it. The game still holds up and the graphics are surprisingly decent for a 360 era game. The story, characters and gameplay are still good when compared to more modern games.jztemple2 wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 6:34 pmSo it is on sale now. Is it worth the buy? $39 still too much if this is a 2nd or more play through. 1st time? No brainer
