This is the closest thing to Social Media that I use so...
Happy 35th Anniversary to my awesome wife!!
Since I have abandoned Facebook and all other social media outlets, you guys are the closest thing I've got to a platform to let this out.
Thirty five years ago Jennifer and I stood in front of a judge in Minot, ND and said our "I do's" attended by a small group of family members. No fancy wedding, no destination honeymoon, just a quick ceremony followed by a few hours of alone time and then I was on my way back to Mare Island Naval Station in California to complete my Navy training.
She would join me a few months later when I had secured off-base housing where we slept on air mattresses for the first month of our new life together.
Navy training completion lead to a relocation to Mayport, Fl where I spent the next three years stationed aboard the USS Dale which meant many deployments, including two six month cruises (one during Operation Desert Storm).
Spending so much or our early marriage apart helped both of us mature and fostered a deeper appreciation for the time that we could spend together.
Following an early release due to my ship decommissioning, we moved to Omaha, NE where we set to raising two daughters and building our lives together. We have each continued to grow both our careers and our commitment to each other.
During that time we've faced hard times and adversity but somehow managed to come through all of them together.
Good times as well. We've visited many different countries and territories from Mexico and the Caribbean to Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
Our children have grown up, moved out, moved back, got married (the youngest), moved out again.
We relocated to Phoenix, AZ where we spent a blissful couple of years alone only to have to move back to Omaha after Covid changed so much of the world.
All that said, it's been a hell of a ride and one that I hope will continue long into the future.
She is absolutely the best thing that's ever happened to me and I am one lucky son-of-a-gun to have her by my side so many years later.
Here's to another....well, I don't know how many more years but I'll be with her until the end.

Re: This is the closest thing to Social Media that I use so...
Thank you, everybody. I am still amazed and thankful every day that we wake up next to each other.
Neither of us had any intentions of getting married when we first started dating. I was already enlisted in the service so knew I would be leaving and she mostly just wanted to get back at her then boyfriend for cheating on her.
Somehow, we fell in love anyway. It was a naive, immature love at the time to be sure.
We corresponded during my time in boot camp and then Navy A & C schools until one day, I wrote her a letter (this being in the before internet times) and told her, "Enclosed is my JC Penny credit card. Take it to the jewelry department and ask for my sister. Pick out a wedding ring."
And that's how I proposed.
All of my friends at the time told me we were too young (I was 23, she was 18) and that it would never last.
I am very happy to prove them all wrong.
Congrats to Punisher for his upcoming 35th.
Pyperkub, sadly, I barely listen to any music at all anymore. Mostly it's just podcasts these days.
Jayman, no, no social media accounts at all. Well, I think I might still have an instagram account that I never posted anything on.
'Hawk, thanks for the offer to shoot us less but then that's not nearly as funny.
Everybody else, thanks again. I appreciate you all.

That, plus my sister didn't work in the Monkey Wards jewelry counter so couldn't offer the friends and family discount.hepcat wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:51 am Good choice. A Montgomery Ward credit card would have probably scared her off.
Even then the ring was $1300 in 1989 money.
Inflation calculator tells me that's about $3300 today.

I just checked what the ring I bought in 1998 would be in today's dollars. That was a bad idea. Good news, it was less than 2 months of my current salary.

Re: This is the closest thing to Social Media that I use so...
I have no idea. I just thank my lucky stars that she has chosen to stick around this long.
We just booked another clothing optional cruise for Feb of 2026.
We have a cruise booked in May of this year but it's a regular cruise. Or, as they say in the nudist community it's a "Textile" cruise. Though a clothing optional cruise to Alaska in May would probably be a bit on the chilly side.
Also we're going to a CO resort in Mexico in October.
I guess we just like to be naked together.

I'm guessing that the OP picture was a textile cruise because the CO tour of Greek antiquity involved too much oily wrestling.

Of course. Though it's a bit difficult since our eldest daughter still lives with us along with my mother so opportunities are limited.Punisher wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:29 pm Umm..couldn't you be naked together at home....for free...?
Also, and perhaps this is part of our success at being married is that we like to travel to new and interesting places and then have sex there.
The Greek cruise from the OP picture was not only clothing optional, it was also a Swinger cruise.
No, we don't did not participate in any swinging but we could still be naked and in Greece so, win as far as we were concerned.
Strangely, the swinging cruise was more restrictive than the regular CO cruises as you could only be naked on the pool deck and in the "play area" whereas the CO cruise you could be naked anywhere except the main and any specialty dining rooms.
Also, on the CO cruises you had to be clothed when in port but the Swinger cruise didn't care so everybody was naked as we sailed away from Athens which was amusing since we passed another cruise ship on the way out and it was interesting to watch the folk on the other ship go from waving to our ship to being shocked and then pointing all the nekkid people out to their fellow passengers.
