Hrdina, welcome to the obsession that is Qvadriga :D

By the way, for those who haven't checked out the game folder, all the names generated in the game are contained in simple text files, one for each region. Also it appears that there is no fixed number of names that is required in a file, although I do have to double check that. So it's time to do some research and make up a list of my favorite auriga names, like Warner Brothers cartoon characters

Team Marxbros consisted of Grouchus, Chicus, and Harpus. Unfortunately Harpus died when the auriga alongside whipped him a little too hard, and had to be replaced. I wish you could change the namee of aurigas you hire in-game.

Looks like an ipad version is coming.
Trumpets resonate once again in the circus. If Qvadriga has already captured the hearts of the crowd and of the PC journalists – “I’m a little bit in love with Qvadriga” (Rock Paper Shotgun), “a game worth playing for its well-developed mechanics” (Softpedia) – it will now try to seduce a brand new audience. Indeed, our champion is not used to resting on his laurels and feels ready to take up another spicy challenge!

Slitherine and Turnopia are delighted to announce that Qvadriga will be ported onto iPad and Android tablets. All of the elements that made the base game successful will be implemented for a unique chariot racing experience in the mobile world. Huge campaign, historic factions, 43 historically modeled circuses, upgrade and customization systems will perfectly combine with the touch controls for an intense sporting moment!

Developers are working hard to ensure a top notch portage and will soon request the help of the community to fine tune this conversion which promises to be epic!

iPad is good news!

I held off buying it for the PC because it seemed like the kind of boardgamey thing I like on my tablet.

This is very addictive. My first game was going reasonably well -- very few victories, but my lead auriga was developing well, and I was starting purchase some nicer horses and chariots. Then his chariot collapsed on the turn. Then he got run over and died. Then my back-up auriga crashed in almost the same spot. He tried holding onto the reins until he could safely escape the track, but the horses ran over a particularly nasty stretch and he was dragged to his death. I was left with no charioteers, and because I had just invested in new equipment, not enough money to hire a new one.

Excellent! In my opinion this was the single biggest change needed from an immersion perspective. I'll have to head back to the track after work today and check it out. :D

If you're on the fence about buying this game, like I was, there's currently an easter sale going on until April 21st. You can get $10 off any game in the

Slitherine store with the coupon code: SL-HAPPYEASTER!
or the Matrix Games store: MX-HAPPYEASTER!

Qvadriga is $9.99 with that coupon code.

I also got an email from them about this. I was trying to figure what I could use it on. I was thinking this game or maybe the the latest Distant Worlds expansion (brings it down to $15).

Victory! In true Qvadriga style, my third and final victory at Rome's Circus Maximus was won by my fourth-string auriga, who crashed his chariot coming out of the final turn and was dragged the length of the straightaway and across the finish line in first place.

I haven't played Qvadriga in a while but I got a hankering for something simple to pick up and not too long in each session. I don't show much time on it in Steam but I played it for many hours back when I got it through Matrix Games.

Anyway, I started a new campaign as the PurPura, which gives me a chariot that already has a size upgrade, making it more suitable for crashing into opponents :D and my auriga (driver) also has a skill upgrade, which among other things, helps him when he crashes into opponents :D :D. On my first race I'm at Sienna, which is a classic Greek hippodrome. there are sixteen teams running, stacked into two rows at the start line.
Image click to enlarge

When it was all over there were only five chariots still running and what I count as twenty dead horse on the track

Chariot racing is not for the faint of heart!

By the way, the game is on sale on Humble Bundle and if you look at that page, there's a link to a demo about mid-page if you wish to give the game a try.

You can also find the demo on the main Slitherine Qvadriga page.

I did pick this one up for the iPad way back when. It's really a lot of fun: very boardgamey in its decision making, but a nice interface and fun animation to bring it to life.

Definitely a just-one-more-race game.

Actually they didn't purge, I just deleted them since I needed the room for other images. I'll go back to the first page and fix those posts for the sake of history :D

Does postimage.org allow unlimited number of images? That's my issue with imgur, although I get around it a bit by using several accounts.

I've started a campaign in Epic mode, which I haven't done before. What's epic?
Image

And boy is it different from the normal campaign. Less money means it's harder to upgrade chariots and horses and permadeath for your auriga means that you really may want to think about taking those risks.

I just won a race and as I have found with Qvadriga, every race is a story. The start isn't the best location, so I have to whip my horses to keep from being pinched out when the field necks down from twelve to eight abreast (all the following images are click to enlarge):
Image

Further down the straight. I start a turn next to two opponents. I select lacerate to the left:
Image

Lacerating the first opponent's horses caused them to slow down. Now I'm moving up to the next chariot:
Image

My next opponent has no skill or constitution upgrades. Not a good situation when you are attacked by a driver like mine with both:
Image

So, one less opponent! The rest of the race is relatively anticlimactic. I took a couple of risks in cornering and worked my way forward, the two chariots in front of me slowing themselves down fighting so I was able to get inside and pass both. First prize loot is rather small out here in the boonies of Syria, but it all helps.

i just post anonymously, so i'm not sure.

their FAQ (there's a weird typo where it looks like a word and punctuation was left out, so interpret as you will):
3) How long will images be left on the server?

You can upload unlimited images per post will never have to worry about your images being removed for inactivity.
UPDATE: i just created an account and saw this page:

Nothing like buying 4-upgrade horses, then having someone one-shot one of them in the first race by crashing into them.

Finished the campaign. Let's hear it for the Blues!

I slummed it around the perimeter until the main circus opened up. I rattled off a couple 2nd place finishes before getting some good breaks and rattling off the three victories I needed to win.

I lost a few aurigas, but never used the resurrect option. I believe my score was 222, but I can't find a place to view the campaign leaderboard.

I also did not un-install it, so my aurigas are still there waiting for me to return. :horse:
