And then there was one. With a win by the Raiders, the Giants are the losers in the clubhouse for the first draft pick. They should easily lose out against the Colts and Eagles.

Re: NFL 2024 Regular Season
After running into multiple issues, I finally got the NFL games working on a Netflix today. Clicking on the GIANT BANNER on the Netflix home page wouldn’t start the broadcast and would only let me “set a reminder” for the game. The app thought the game hadn’t started yet, even though it was at halftime. However, searching for NFL in their search bar finally found it and allowed me to start it.
They just showed a graphic for upcoming games.
- Today’s two games are on Netflix.
- Tomorrow’s game is on Amazon Prime.
- Saturday’s three games are on NFL Network.
- Sundays games are on broadcast + ESPN (I assume)
Gosh, it’s such a mystery why I don’t watch much NFL anymore…

Agreed. If it's on network TV or ESPN I can watch through Spectrum on my PC. But Netflix? Unless it's the Chargers my TV is reserved for PS5 gaming.Skinypupy wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 4:04 pm After running into multiple issues, I finally got the NFL games working on a Netflix today. The larger issue - and the one that I think makes this model unsustainable - is that it now requires monthly subscriptions to at least four different service to watch NFL games.

Someone has to balance me out. That schedule will result in me watching 10 games this week.Skinypupy wrote:They just showed a graphic for upcoming games.

Schedule isn’t the issue. I’m fine with more football.
It’s having to be subscribed to every streaming service under the sun in order to watch.

You don't have to subscribe to any. Just go out to a sports bar. Order a beer. Enjoy the game with a crowd. Invite friends if you like.Skinypupy wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 7:12 pm Schedule isn’t the issue. I’m fine with more football.

Re: NFL 2024 Regular Season
The other thing I've come to realize is that missing a game is not the end of the world. Let's say there was an important game that would determine a division winner and it was only on Peacock or some BS. I would simply not check the score and once it is over watch the highlights on youtube. Without commercials and time outs you can watch a whole game in 15 minutes. A better investment of your time.

The logical conclusion is to avoid ever watching games in real time and get all your information late by reading box scores, watching YouTube, and talking to people who really follow the teams.

Re: NFL 2024 Regular Season
NFL+ let's you watch all the games right after they are finished. If you wait 2-4 hours, a replay of only the plays is available and condenses the game to about 45 minutes. It's only about $100 for the year - I find it far preferably to trying to hunt down games and this way I can choose either the full broadcast (minus commercials) or the condensed version depending on how I feel.

I was hoping to ditch cable this new-year, because I just want to watch NFL and College Football, and was hoping there was some place I could only pay for that. It doesn't really sound like there is though.stessier wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 3:39 pm NFL+ let's you watch all the games right after they are finished. How many times have I witnessed the Chargers' playoff hopes dashed by the Patriots. Today is not that day. Also Dobbins is back for the playoffs!

This is almost a certain that the Cleveland Browns will try to get Aaron Rogers next year in thier quest to have the worst QB's in the league. Lol..

The Giants had the future within their grasp but they screwed the pooch. The lowest spot now belongs to...(drumroll)...the Patriots. Seems almost Belichickian.

Re: NFL 2024 Regular Season
Strange week with some teams resting starters and others in desperation mode. Meanwhile the Pats borked their #1 draft pick.
The Patriots grabbed a tight 23-16 win over the Buffalo Bills to wrap up the regular season on Sunday, which gave them their fourth victory of the year. As a result, however, that moved the Patriots to the fourth pick in the draft.
That paved the way for the Tennessee Titans, who fell to the Houston Texans in Week 18, to jump up and secure the top pick in April's draft. The Cleveland Browns will pick second, and the New York Giants will pick third.

Hold the Mayo! The Patriots brass were so upset with losing the #1 draft pick that they fired Jerod Mayo.

Radio was saying the Viks spent 2,000,000 to buy 2,000 seats in Detroit to sell to Vik Season Ticket Holders at $200 a pop... Most of whom turned around and sold them back to the Detroit market for a tidy profit... Sadly, all that really does is drive up scalper resale market pricing. What the market well bear, I guess.

It's looking like Minnesota doesn't have to worry about running down a play clock. 3 times now that I've noticed.
Edit and it looks like it's just terrible reffing all around. Ah well. I think I'm just going to listen while playing games instead of watching. <blech>

Yes, that. I keep hearing Leos defensive injuries, so I guess I'm glad I'm not seeing Leos defensive injuries. Hopefully, it's being sensitized with selective hearing and it's not as bad as all of that.Unagi wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:22 pmI'm not following what you thought you were seeing.LordMortis wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:08 pm It's looking like Minnesota doesn't have to worry about running down a play clock. 3 times now that I've noticed.

Re: NFL 2024 Regular Season
FWIW I think most Patriots talking heads are supportive of getting rid of Mayo. The team was a mess this year in every way (except for Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez), but that definitely included coaching - a lot of dumb penalties, miscues, bad strategic decisions, etc. Now Mayo is (was) a young coach in his first year, so you figure he'll probably improve at least a little, and the roster (except for the two golden gods) is a wasteland, so maybe no one could've spun straw into gold. So who knows, but it's at least not unreasonable to can Mayo.
TBH if they bring in Vrabel to replace him I think everyone will be happy.

Chargers are actually favored by 3 at the Texans. Ravens favored by 9.5 over the Steelers seems a bit sketchy. After a horrific start to the season the Rams get a home game vs. the Vikings. Interesting how all of the AFC games will be concluded before the first NFC tilt gets underway.

As an Eagles fan, I was very much unimpressed with the two NFC North titans battling it out last night. I was looking forward to a shootout between potent offenses. While the Lions ran up the score in the second half with Gibbs taking over, that game did not deliver. That Vikings offense looked especially bad against a depleted Lions defense. They couldn’t get anything going. Game was a snoozer.
And +1 to the criticisms directed to the officiating. Awful. They missed crucial calls. Definitely a safety should have resulted from intentional grounding when the Vikings got to Goff on the end zone and he threw it away (not in the direction of any receiver). And lots of play clock issues, as noted above. Just sub-par.

Yes, it should have been a safety but Darnold was completely flummoxed by the lions defense. Certainly, a safety there could make a big difference but Darnold was completely ineffective the entire game. The Vikings defense played well but they were gassed by the middle of the third quarter.Kurth wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:03 pm As an Eagles fan, I was very much unimpressed with the two NFC North titans battling it out last night.
