I remember how stinky the coop was and the amount of shit they generated which went to compost which went to gardening. I also remember they were a compost unto themselves. We fed them as much organic refuse as we did feed. Probably more.

My sister keeps chickens. She has a coup outside for them. I worry she'll catch some random bird flu and die from it. She is 70 years old now., I remember her being 25 a few years ago.

Speaking of animal cruelty, my latest crappy neighbor has been nowhere to be seen for about two weeks now. I think he may have bugged out before his lease is up as they often do and yet his PITA "outdoor" cat is still hanging out in my yard.

I will not feel sorry for the cat...

I may have to figure out what to do about an abandoned cat with no tags even if I hate the damned thing.

Regular old cheerios in milk is still a favorite. Ramen may be the de facto food for college kids but when I went to college I ate a lot of cereal (much of it sitting in front of the tv watching Batman:The Animated Series). Think I'll have another bowl.

I have always liked mustangs but prefer the 2005-2014 look. Of course I'm more of a practical car and bike guy now. We've had a Nissan Pathfinder (2008, 2012) since 2007 and I don't anticipate replacing the 2012 any time soon. The 2008 was, sadly, totaled in an accident. We have 2 cars for 3 drivers so I spend most of my time biking to work and around town on a 2011 Cannondale Flash. The flash is my mustang now (though it's more of a subaru wrx).

That's not the case around here. Coyote and coywolves have migrated to this area, presumably because other people put masses of farms and other yards where they lived, so they spread out and then found out they have good feeding grounds. It's (not so funny) because in the aughts and teens, when their presence started being felt, there was a massive denial that they existed around here, especially by local governments, and problems were blamed on everything else. Then when more and more pets were disappearing from suburban areas and people's home surveillance became ubiquitous, now every one knows and have pictures.

Deeper in the much older and dying suburbs, bordering on urban, it's more about the deer being invasive. If you have any patch of woods then you have deer that need to be culled and they are getting more and more aggressive and have been noted for quite sometime to display omnivorous tendencies, scrounging rodents in the winter.

A mirror? No.

But presumably you could create some kind of smart-glass-like thing that would use a camera to get your image, and then manipulate it and potentially display it. But that wouldn't be a mirror.

Also... not sure I see the point.

A mirror would have to be extremely... complex to accomplish that. It would have to reflect your image into itself, bounce it around, and then bounce it back to you - sort of like a backwards periscope. And it still wouldn't work well.

What you're looking for is a phone camera with a selfie mode that can mirror (flip) the image.

Maybe it's just me, but that still doesn't make sense. You are seeing yourself as others see you. The only thing that would be different would be something like waving your right hand. So actions are a little off, but the image is still you.

We spend so much time looking in mirrors that the mirrored image becomes our strongest sense of what we look like. This is why pictures of us (which don't left-right reverse us) often seem off.

I part my hair on the right. In a mirror my part is on the right of the image as well. But when someone (or a camera) looks at me face to face, my hair is parted on my right but their left. It's uncanny.

The selfie camera on my phone (Pixel 8) shows a mirror image in the camera app preview (i.e. my right hand is on the right side of the screen), but if I take a photo, by default it is flipped on the horizontal axis so that the saved photo shows the image as it would appear to a normal observer (i.e. my right hand is on the left side of the image). There's a camera option ("Save selfie as previewd") to toggle that function on/off.

I don't see any way to toggle off the mirrored preview though.

It's a similar issues with bears over here. Black bears have been known to roam the residential areas because of what they were in the past, and people are always surprised and complain when they show up. I had a bear cub 10 ft away from me one afternoon years ago, and I was minding my own business. It was looking for food given the berry season was bad. Then several days later, a man on the end of my street frustrated with inaction with the ministry in charge of relocation, took matters into his own hands by shooting a bear. And it was very likely the same bear I'd seen. Lots of public outcry followed, because it's very much illegal within city limits.

It exists in the telescope world. Some refractors have what are called corrective lenses., but yes it does require lots of bouncing around.

I went to the museum of illusions in Dallas in the fall and I vaguely remember they had a mirror that flipped the typical image but I didn't really put much time into checking it out because meh. I may also be fabricating this in my brain because there was a lot of kind of cool stuff there, many involving mirrors, and I didn't take notes.

Actually they are easy to make although, like most DIY, hard to make well. Two flat mirrors set as sides of a right triangle will do it I had the students make one in class one year and we often did the exercise one paper. To really make it work the two mirrors need to be beveled to give a clean, practically invisible, seam. Of course it takes up a fair amount of room so you aren't going to hang it on the wall.

My point, that was apparently lost, is that Dae asked about "a mirror". Which by definition is a shiny surface that reflects. Reflections work the way they work. So "a" mirror is never going to do anything other that what it does. Everything else being discussed involves more than one mirror or technology. Now, if people want to call the entire device "a mirror", then the discussion changes.
