Despite feeling like this was going to be shit I watched it. It's not good. Skaarsgard (or at least his character) has no charisma. He isn't someone you like. He's fine. Like you don't hate him. He just isn't someone you really like. Brandon Lee's Eric was someone you liked. They spent a lot of time trying to establish love between the two but failed epically compared to the original which spent much less time. The bad guys are just generic bad guys. So much is explained by some random character rather than shown. The main scene is pretty dumb. It's a gun fight between hundreds of people in an opera (don't worry it's not a spoiler because it's so fucking obvious) but for some reason no one hears thousands of bullets being shot. The final fight between the main bad guy and Eric is not compelling at all. The bad guys are really generic with no substance at all.
I'd give it 2 out of 10 tentacles.
