Probably, but in-person attendance outdoors will likely be low due to the weather, not lack of interest in the coronation.

I agree, but if the weather had been conducive to an outdoor event tomorrow, then they probably wouldn't have needed to lie about the crowd size this time around.

Well, math. And greed. If he unloads too much it will tank the price, which will indice panic selling which will tank the price more.Max Peck wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 2:09 pm So who, exactly, enforces the rule that says that Emperor Trump can't unload as much of his meme coin as he wishes, whenever he wishes? Given that laws don't apply to him and all that.
There is supposedly some kind of lockup period for the 80% ownership group but that's probably very nonbinding.
It's more that if you try to sell $40B when there is only $10B in liquidity, you'll drive the price to zero.

That's all fine details when anyone - or the agents of any nation - can now send him a message and then funnel some money into $TRUMP for him to enjoy later. Nothing matters anymore.

One more day until $.89 a dozen eggs, $2.00 a gallon gas, and $.06 a kilowatt electricity 24/7!!!! I'm stoked. Drill baby, drill!
Just in time. Eggs are now up $3.89 a dozen around here. I suppose it might be too much to hope for $1 a gallon gas like it was during the height of the pandemic, even as we know it's possible.

I was watching one of the morning shows a few days ago and they supposedly had cryptocurrency expert on and it sounded like a whole lot of talk without really saying anything, which pretty much sums up how I feel about cryptocurrency.

Anyone?
Us native-born straight white financially secure males are going to be just fine. Doesn't mean we're fine with what's coming, though. Humanitarian instincts aside, notice that I didn't include "Christian" in my adjective chain? I'm sure that's going to make me personally uncomfortable, at best.

Re: The Apprentice Season 2 - The Second Presidency of Donald Trump
These were my FB comments on the eve of Trump’s first inauguration. I feel the same about Trump today (even moreso) but I am now completely devoid of the admittedly very small hope I carried then. I have only a deep abiding dread that we have reached the end of the American experiment and are moving into the next chapter of oligarchy, kakistocracy, and fascism with the only real question being how bad it will get and how quickly it might happen.
As Kraken said, I - as an older, white, fairly financially secure male - will probably be ok. Others that I care about, not so much. I'm truly terrified about the future awaiting my kids.
We are officially into the modern "Who's gonna stop us from doing whatever the fuck we want?" stage of American governance. Buckle up, everyone.

As we prepare for tomorrow’s inauguration, I know many of you who view President-Elect Trump as someone who deeply cares about America and seeks to improve the country as a whole.
Personally, I view Trump as someone who could not possibly care any less about America, and is interested solely in improving the lot of himself (first and foremost) and a very select group of Americans at the top. And that he will do so at the expense of the greater public, especially those who don’t happen to think or look exactly as he does. He cares not a single whit about American values (despite crowing about them daily) and seeks only to divide us so he can grab more and more power. He is a narcissist who surrounds himself by yes-men and sycophants and will sell out the very soul of this nation if someone praises him or if he thinks he’ll make a buck. He is the absolute antithesis of everything we look for in a great American leader and I fear that the damage he will cause will be irreparable.
I hold a very, very sincere hope you all are right and that I am 100% dead wrong. When we get back together in 4 years to do this again, I will be absolutely thrilled if all our lots have collectively improved. Nothing would make me happier than to admit that I was completely wrong about Trump and am proud to say he has been our leader.
It will require significant work from both sides, but for the sake of progress, I’ll keep that flame of optimism burning.

And people want it now. Celebrities are turning, media has turned, people in general that I know have turned.
Biden is more unpopular now than when trump left office after January 6.
I’m open about being conservative. But none what Trump is doing, threatening Canada and Denmark or dismantling the department of education is conservative.

I think it's drummed up media bullshit.
The idea that "Presidential popularity" is even what it ever meant before is also up for debate.
The most harsh critiques I hear about Biden and his admin are all spoken in terms that are clear Trump is 1000 degrees worse than him and that Biden didn't stop or protect or do enough to counter it.
Which puts Biden in leauge with just about everyone else (spare a prosecutor or two)

Nah, one of the Bezos inauguration donations was to stream it on Amazon Video (considered a $1M donation-in-kind, iirc). Trumps TikTok announcement also implied that it might be streamed there, as well.

Re: The Apprentice Season 2 - The Second Presidency of Donald Trump
Careful. That's the kind of claim Trump and his cult made their bones on. If the polls were done using standard polling procedures, I see no reason to doubt them. Biden became VERY unpopular towards the end of his presidency thanks in no small part to a fractured dem party and Trump's cult answering every question about Trump's criminal trials with "HUNTER BIDEN...MY GOD, HUNTER BIDEN!". When he then pardoned Hunter, it didn't help his image with people who weren't sure about him. Although the economy and inflation (which he actually did well with, I thought) probably sealed his fate in the court of public opinion.Unagi wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:14 amI don't really believe that.waitingtoconnect wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:25 am

This list of expected executive orders on day one is much more egregious than I expected.
![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon/eek.gif)
And that's only the ones that stood out to me. There are quite a few more.Mr Trump will sign an executive order declaring the federal government will only recognise two genders.
Mr Trump will issue an executive order aimed at ending Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the federal government.
Mr Trump is expected to issue an executive order to end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal migrants on his first day in office.
Mr Trump is expected to order the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska’s Mount Denali to honour “American greatness”.
