I'll probably end up buying it, just like all the others, and like the others, lose interest before I finish it .

Still, I'm in.

I finish them, but I do end up getting into a rut at some point with each game. It becomes a "wash, rinse, repeat" thing for me as I just find high ground and clear 'em all out with the same methods. But I do enjoy it enough to keep coming back.

You're both right - all the games are very repetitive but for some reason I never get tired of it. For whatever reason, I find it all immensely satisfying even if I'm literally just moving around a little bit and setting up perfect shots.

I will play this on day one with the sole intent of getting at least one long distance nut shot. Preferably with a slow mo ass exit to boot.

Nice to see that killing Nazis is still cool! I haven’t had a complaint about any of the Sniper Elite games so in it to win it against the Reich!

PC Gamer review
Sniper Elite has felt like the heir apparent to the stealth genre for a while now, and Resistance further solidifies that, a generous helping of sneaky action that's only slightly less impressive because it's retreading the same path Sniper Elite 5 already took in 2022.

Not that 5 wasn't fun, but Splinter Cell: WWII wasn't what made the series unique up through 4.

Yeah, that's x-ray views of body parts being obliterated!

OK, I don't actually know what made the game unique up through 4 even though I have played all of them. I play pretty much every game as a sneaky murder-fest so I can't really remember the details.

It sounds like Resistance is kind of buggy at review time per ACG one of my top YouTube reviewers, but a key was gifted to me so I will be checking it out this weekend.

There are a few games that bring me instant and complete joy; anything Sniper Elite is on that list. I've done the evil pre-order and am anxiously awaiting the ability to shoot Nazis. Repeatedly.

I put the most hours into SE5, so I kind of liked the formula, although I didn't get through the entire game. With Door Kickers 2 maybe  hitting 1.0 this week, and Foundation doing the same on Friday, I was a bit reluctant to give SE:R a try. So I look forward to folks' impressions.

I'm reinstalling SE5 to remind myself of the gameplay... hey, I didn't realize that they released a patch for it less than two month ago, cool. Shame though that they don't sell a bundle that would like me get the season passes without paying for the original game as well.

Sniping. It was primarily a sniping game, and most situations could be handled with careful sniping. 5 was more of a third-person stealth game where you could snipe. Some levels actually felt like they were designed to prevent sniping. Not a complete change of direction, just of emphasis. Like I said, still a great series, but it was change away from what made the series stand out (to me.)

Does the enemy act more or less the same as the last Sniper game? Absolutely. Did I spent an hour on the first (relatively) small map creeping around and shooting Nazis in the face? Yes. Did I enjoy every minute? Also yes.

There's just something about this game that I enjoy tremendously and so far, I'm getting that same feeling with the new one. Some people seem to be complaining, but I can't imagine anyone that's a fan of the series being disappointed, unless something drastically changes as I continue. I'm already rethinking some things I did on the first map and how I might do it different - which is always a good sign.

Think i hit a bug in the 1st mission. I took out 1 flak cannon by using another flak cannon. The remaining cannon there's an option to plant a satchel charge. I've found like 5 charges and no matter what I do it says missing satchel charge. Don't know how to proceed

reloaded save, same issue, no crash though.

Hope this was a fluke

The first scene of the first mission is pure sniping goodness. I think I nut shot my way through 15 Nazis alone from the starting area.

Question, are there settings to alter the difficulty level? As I've gotten older my reaction time and my coordination have suffered.

You're MASSIVELY covered in that regard with most of the Sniper games. The amount of customization you can do with your game of Sniper Elite Resistance is through the roof.

I remember tweaking the last one so much it was ridiculous. I ended up moving to authentic for a while, even. That was a real trial. But if you can't get the difficulty JUST the way you'd like with this game, I'd be completely surprised. :)

I played through the first mission and while it's nothing earth-shattering, sniping Nazis is fun. I tend to play a bit fast and loose though. In real life, I'd probably be the world's noisest (and most dead) sniper.

I wasn’t even trying and I got the award “Das Nuts” for a testicle shot over 100 yards. The accompanying kill cam scene will haunt me for the rest of my life.

One thing that seems different is that when you’re in tall grass hiding, enemies can still see you if you move. I don’t remember that from previous iterations of the game. Although it may be a difficulty setting I hadn’t noticed before.

Just a warning. Not really a spoiler. There is a kill mission that suggest you use a coal torpedo. If you do the thing with the thing, stay in the room or at least close or thing won't do the thing and you won't get to see the thing. I did the thing and left the immediate area assuming the thing would still happen like it does with special kills in the Hitman games. I was disappointed. I am assuming it's an achievement, but not sure since steam won't show me achievements for this game.
