You just liked Morpheus’ hair. You’ve been dreaming about going emo for years now.
I just needed to loop back on this. I posted that after maybe 4 episodes I think. Holy hell. The back half of season one was amazing. I saw the talk here about the first few episodes being kind of hesitant, like the comic (which I never read), but I did not expect that.
$225 for the box set... hmmm, that's a beefy christmas request...
The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen... has indeed happened...

Episode 11 is a nice standalone story. Though I nearly turned it off during the cat cartoon.
That is...not a popular viewpoint. The Dream of a Thousand Cats is fantastic. They did a really great job of translating the look and feel of the comic to this show.
It's been a while, so here's an update, published 5/20/24:
Dreamers awaken! The Sandman saga is back in production, preparing to bring new phantasmagorical episodes — conjured from Neil Gaiman’s iconic graphic novel, which debuted 35 years ago today — to the screen. And it’s finally time to find out who has been cast as Endless family members Destiny, Delirium, and The Prodigal.
Unfortunately I'm guessing that means we won't be seeing any new episodes until 2025, but maybe I'm wrong and something will hit in the last week of December...
Game of Thrones‘ Jack Gleeson will join Netflix‘s fantasy series for its sophomore run, TVLine has learned. He’ll play Puck, who is described as “a malevolent hobgoblin who serves as the royal jester to King Auberon of Faerie. Puck is fascinated by mortals and enjoys nothing more than making sport of them for his own amusement. He’s also the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
There's a bunch of other announcements in the linked article related to casting and their various roles, but I think that is the biggest news as Puck's role in the Sandman's story is rather large.
Jack Gleeson took some time off after Game of Thrones….and then came back with a vengeance. He was fantastic as the psycho hitman who is actually more stable than you think in In the Land of Saints and Sinners. I’m absolutely happy with his casting in Sandman S2.
The release plan for Season 2 will not be impacted by the cancellation and the episodes are still set for a 2025 release.
...
The second season of “The Sandman” follows the “Season of Mists” storyline from Gaiman’s comics, in which Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie) abdicates control of Hell and presents Morpheus, aka Dream (Tom Sturridge), with the key to its gates, causing many immortals to try to convince Morpheus to give the key to them.
Joining for Season 2 are Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal,” Ruairi O’Connor as Orpheus, Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan and Jack Gleeson as Puck, Indya Moore as Wanda and Steve Coogan as the voice of Barnabas the dog.

That kinda sucks because the final arc of the comic series is some of the best writing I’ve read. Really wish they could separate the source material from the author in this case but when you behave terribly I guess we can’t have nice things.

As I understand it, Gaiman was directly involved in developing the show, so I'm not sure there is a way to separate it. It wasn't just a matter of someone adapting Gaiman's work, it was Gaiman adapting Gaiman's work.
It would be worse if Netflix just decided "Hey, it's 2025 and woke is dead. Let's do this and make some money!" A lot of corporations seem to be making that pivot.
