Damn, I got fooled because I half-assed watched a video with the sound low and thought it was real. I'm not sure why anyone spends the actual time to make a fake trailer like this.
I absolutely hate these fan made trailers. I can appreciate the effort that went into them. But I just wish they'd use that effort towards something other than trying to fool people into believing something is coming that is not.

No kidding. I wish that YouTube would require a clear statement of "Fan Trailer" in the title.
This particular one, though, stood out as fake just from the thumbnail. AI still can't manage skin with texture - Bill Murray has never been made of polished vinyl.
Another giveaway is that AI trailers tend to have a lot of scenes of people just standing there, looking into the distance, and very (if any) scenes of people actually talking. That's because as soon as a face starts emoting or speaking, AI drives it off of the uncanny cliff.
To be fair, it was on in the background. I did a Google search to see if it was real and the AI returned
Groundhog Day 2: Shadow of the Past is a 2025 sequel to the 1993 film Groundhog Day. It stars Bill Murray and Margaret Qualley.
Plot:
Groundhog Day 2 follows Claire Connors (Margaret Qualley), the estranged daughter of Phil Connors (Bill Murray). Claire becomes trapped in her own time loop in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil helps Claire navigate her loop while also reconciling with her.
Director:
Groundhog Day 2 is directed by Jason Reitman.
I guess I'm getting to that age where I'm going to start falling for telephone scams from Windows.
I was watching it on my phone and thought it was real and kept asking myself “Why?!”. I then opened YouTube up and the comments were not directly clear (to me) it was fake until I read a comment that said to read the description. I guess I need to slow down and not react so quickly.

No judgment from me. I kept staring at the thumbnail trying to figure out how they de-aged Murray so much until I realized it was AI.
And that's exactly what it looks like - like when they use AI to try to de-age someone and do it poorly (for example, young Luke.)
I'd recommend everyone go look for a few AI trailers, which are a popular video on YouTube. They have names like "Game of Thrones as an 80s Sword and Sorcery Movie." Watch two or three of those, and AI trailers will stick out like a sore thumb afterwards. Note, in particular, all the dramatic staring.

I'd actually be ok with prison sentences for this.
