From the reviews I watched, sharpness and comfort should be the same, but contrast and brightness are less. This seems to be mitigated by just turning up the brightness though, so that's hardly a worry unless you're conserving battery. The filter is always physically present though, and it looked like there was a bit of a screen-door-like effect. But that may just have been up close, and even then I'm sure one would get used to it.

After re-watching a review I'm kind of second-guessing not getting the Clara colour edition. But again, I wasn't getting this thing to read comics on any way. If I want to do that I've got an older, larger tablet with much better colour representation. And the BW's display is just so gorgeous, I can't be disappointed in it. I'm excited to read for the first time in ages.

It must have been zoomed in and/or the result of extremely close analysis. In practice, I can't really see any 'screen door' effect or loss of clarity.

if you want, you can jailbreak the Kindle and install KOReader on it
https://koreader.rocks/
as well as some other apps, including an 'interactive fiction' game player

(you can also install KOReader on the Kobo without any jailbreaking)

I learned from this video that the "Download & transfer via USB" option for the books in our Kindle library will no longer be available on February 26. I went ahead and downloaded my books.

New Kindle jailbreak for those who might need/want it:
WinterBreak, based on Mesquito, requires the user to have a PC, to have registered their Kindle, and a WiFi connection to the internet.
Black Lives definitely Matter Lorini!

Oops. Thanks. I had looked back a bit in the thread to see if it was already mentioned, but not far back enough.
