Re: Cobra Kai
I had no idea this was releasing but binged the whole thing today...really well done with several good twists that I didn't see coming at all. Where do they go from that last episode though?
And go Chozen! Pulled off possibly the biggest surprise of the whole show!

Yeah. The last part should be very interesting.
No clue how they go from here.
Maybe a time jump that starts with. 20 years later..

Well, how about that. I'm not sure what to make of it just yet. Trailer comes across as quite muddled.

Re: Cobra Kai
I will watch anything with Jackie Chan. That said he had his chance with the reboot. Kind of wanted to see someone new.

Re: Cobra Kai
I like the concept of them coming together and the potential it brings between the two disciplines. I just wish it was Daniel leading the effort seeing as he's the more popular character.

Re: Cobra Kai
I wish it had stayed true to the orignal concept of two men who never quite grew up, and the effect it had on the kids in their lives. But I guess it would have been difficult to maintain that level of writing for this long. Hence the turn to (mostly) an action series with actual supervillains.

Re: Cobra Kai
Yeah, I know the feeling. In essence, the series was a way to train a new generation of students, but it feels like each season got more and more over the top. For me, the turning point was in Miguel breaking his back, and then the fight they took to the LaRusso household.

Re: Cobra Kai
The final season of Cobra Kai has been released. I can't wait to see how Daniel and Johnny stop Silver's evil plan to take over the world. Can they work together, or will their differences tear them apart!

We r driving to NC as passengers and just finished.
Definitely some of the best fights.
Bittersweet ending to a show that never had any business being as good as it was.
Kinda of crazy that Daniel, Johnny, Kreese, and Silver all make up and join forces in a new karate themed Starbucks franchise bit think of the spinoffs!

Did they introduce the Master of Power Suction and The Evil Lord of Odors in the final stretch?

Finished it. I think the series probably went on a season too long, but I still enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't mind the over-the-topness of the later seasons primarily because it hearkened back to the ridiculousness of old '80s films. It didn't make sense in "real life," but it made perfect sense within the universe established by the original movies.

I just finished it too. It was a wild ride and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I also love the little Johnny Lawrence touches, like when the sushi waitress serves his food and he says, "Gracias."

Re: Cobra Kai
It just isn’t the same show it started off as. The premise has almost completely changed. I loved what the show was back then.

You have to learn to show NO MERCY.....to your cynicism. Hepcat-san has been hanging out too much with the pussies in Miyagi-do.

Re: Cobra Kai
When the show started, that would have been satire. Now it’s not. That’s the biggest issue I have with it.
I know you guys like it, and I still watch it too as I’ve invested too much time with it to not see it through this late in the game. But I enjoy it far less because of how it’s morphed from a show about adults who can’t grow up, and the kids who are shaped by that, to just a sequel to the Karate Kid movies. It’s more MCU now than anything else.

Re: Cobra Kai
Very nice ending to a good show. Was the show critically as good as the first season? No. But the first season was too good to sustain for as long as they did. Very few shows maintain their first season greatness. The Walking Dead was fantastic in it's first season. By the 10th? Garbage. By the end of Breaking Bad I was totally burned out on that show and just wanted it to end. Kobra Kai was at least fun from beginning to end and I'd argue that the final season was much better than the final season of Breaking Bad, TWD, GoT, and numerous others. It was a fitting end to the show and a much better finale than most shows.

Counterpoint: BB was great the whole ride.

I feel the shows are very similar. I think the original intent of the KK writers was to slowly turn Daniel-san into a drug lord by the end of season 4.EvilHomer3k wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 12:37 pmKobra Kai was at least fun from beginning to end and I'd argue that the final season was much better than the final season of Breaking Bad
