Cell Phone Question

Post by Jeff V »

My 2-yr old phone is getting long in the tooth and in need of replacement. I kind of decided I want a Motorola V551.

The best deal I've seen for this phone is Wirefly. Amazon also has it for free ($150 with $150 rebate).

Now, both Wirefly and Amazon require a 1 year contract for the rebates. No problems here. However, I am a current Cingular customer. It would appear I can't simply do this as an upgrade (which, according to Cingular, would cost $18 instead of $36). I want to keep the same number, but Amazon states it has no procedure for transferring numbers with Cingular.

I want to do this as seemlessly as possible. I don't mind the 1 year contract, and I would even pay the $36 activation fee if needed. I want to keep the same number, however, and don't want any billing SNAFUs.

Any advice?

I'm looking at staying with Cingular. Amazon hawks just about all of the providers, but they don't offer phone number transition with Cingular (or AT&T). I don't know how much of an issue this would be since I already have Cingular.

My cell phone is constantly nagging me to accept the ios terms and conditions, and I am constantly ignoring it. Any consequences either way?

I've been ignoring Samsung's notifications for years. Their phrasing on the notification ("Click here to agree to...") bugs me.

If you agree then you get notified when the battery is about to explode. Other than that, I don't think so.
