I absolutely loved the NOLF games and Aliens vs Predator 2.

Shogo, Tron 2.0.
Of course, it hasn't been that studio in a long time.

Oh yeah, the Tron game was great, and considered an official sequel before the actual sequel came out years later.Blackhawk wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:58 pm Shogo, Tron 2.0.

And now there might be even less of a chance for a new NOLF or reboot. And anyone remember the Gathering of Developers? I think they were part of that group.

Just picked up Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in a bundle for $19.99 on PS5. Which is an insane deal given the latest game is still $70??? Looking forward to those after I finish off the first PS5 Spider-Man game. I've 100%ed it but now just working through the DLC.

I thought the first one was very good. Easier Souls-like with light sabres!
The new one is part of the (playstation) monthly whatever, but the ~130ish GB install size was daunting given that I haven't added any extra storage to my PS5 yet.

That is a pretty good deal for both. Jedi Survivor is available in the PS Plus library right now, so I'm planning to start soon and hopefully get through before it's taken off the service. I really enjoyed the first game.

I really tried to like it but it wasn't the SW i needed. I got maybe 1/4th through it and realized all I was doing over and over was weird puzzles to paths I needed to get to and climbing.

The first game was pretty good. I bounced HARD off the second game three times. For some reason it finally clicked on the fourth try and I loved it. Was really strange...must have just needed to be in the right mood or something.

Go to Steam Library Filters and put in your account name. Give it a minute to load, and you'll have a list of all of your games, plus a list of all of your tags. Click a tag once to include it, and once again to to exclude it. Click it a third time to reset that tag. It lets you find any kind of game you like. Note that it's worth it to check multiple ways of describing a game in case you have games that aren't tagged 'space sim.'Daehawk wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 1:44 pm Ive got the urge for a space game. Elite: Dangerous is the gold standard right now, I would say.
Or something like X4 for a little bit of both.

Re: Video Games Randomness - Prioritize specific game threads!
Thanks.
Ive owned Elite Dangerous in box since release and played maybe 3 min of it.
I own some of the X games. I loved the first one most. Im not sure how far i finished them...maybe just to pt2. Ive had X4 on my wishlist a long long time I think. ill look into it.
Also Im thinking maybe Starpoint Gemini 3.
Theres a space game I wanted or got but i cant remember the name. I know the intro video and start had to do with flying into the inside of a asteroid for some reason and getting attacked outside it and having to exit it fast. need to see what space game i added to my wishlist last..maybe that was it.
EDIT: AH HA! its Everspace 2. I didn't even know I owned it or a lot of these others. Some I dont remember at all.
Now to find that other one..has 2 parts. The first one was roguelike as there was a timer per map you were in as you salvaged and fought and moved on. But the 2nd one is a true sim and removed the timer. You could paint your ship and all. Cant recall its name either. Maybe it was Everspace for all I know. ill see.

EDIT: Is it Foundations? that seems the most expensive so guessing its the newest.

Re: Video Games Randomness - Prioritize specific game threads!
Give it a whirl, because PvP is entirely optional within Elite: Dangerous and it's certainly playable and enjoyable as an entirely solo experience. Also, the game is remarkably playable with either a game controller or mouse and keyboard, so that's really all you need to get going.Daehawk wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:57 pm I want to play Elite it just looks so complicated and big. plus with PvP I doubt id get far.
If you're worried about how to get started in Elite: Dangerous, make sure to use the game's built-in tutorials, multiple times if necessary—they provide an essential introduction to most of the game’s mechanics, so don't skip 'em. Watching a starter's guide on Youtube for an overview of the basics can also be helpful:
Anyway, when you first start the game up, you're provided with three game modes to choose from: Solo Play, Open Play, or Private Group Session:
- In Solo Play you will never directly encounter any other players, but will still share the same galaxy. Solo Play prevents players from instancing with any other players, ensuring a pure PvE experience.
- In Open Play, you're able to interact with any other players also playing in Open Play mode. Open Play allows players to instance with other players who may be in the same star system, allowing both PvP and PvE gameplay. However, playing in Open is no guarantee of being able to instance with a specific player, and the galaxy within the game is so vast that it's entirely possible to play in Open without ever encountering anyone else at all. Still, if a malicious player ever decides to chase you down and blow up your ship for the lulz, it's only prudent to possess at least sufficient competence to evade and outrun 'em in a pinch.
- Private Group Session allows players to create Private Groups, where access is restricted to only players whom the group's owner invites directly. So, this provides a middle-ground between Open Play and Solo Play where players have control over what other players they can encounter, effectively creating an Open Play experience with a considerably lessened risk of ever running across a malicious player.

You can even play solo (the only way I played) - run out of fuel, turn on Multiplayer and get help from the Fuel Rats player-group that will come rescue you, and then pop back into solo.

Re: Video Games Randomness - Prioritize specific game threads!
So I "beat" Mortal Kombat 1 today, playing through the full Story mode (which was surprisingly fun). I'm terrible at it, mind you, so I just lower the difficulty and mostly just button mash through the campy campaign.
One thing I thought was weird though. It seems like you only get half the story and half the fighters in this game and in order to get the second half of the story and the other half of the fighter roster, you have to purchase a DLC pack...that costs as much as the base game ($60). I can't be the only one who thinks that's insane.

It's Coop PVE and there are multiple stations on the ship, including gun turrets. You'll be expected to put out fires, so there are fire extinguishers and vents (both for getting elsewhere in the ship quickly and where fires might start). You can walk around the outside of the ship both in space and planetside, and they hope to include bots for times when you don't have a full crew.

Transitioning up to Medium on Guitar has been difficult, but I'm getting there. Easy mode tends to skip the chords and doesn't throw the 5th fret at you as much. Also, I think I'm just getting a bit better at instinctively getting my fingers ready for the colors.Pyperkub wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 1:00 am I dug up the Xbox legacy controller for Rock band and got some time in playing guitar on rock band for the first time in years.

Of course, I'm many, many moons older than I was when I was playing a lot back in the day, and my fingers/hands aren't quite as nimble as they were, and they get a bit more sore. I think practice is helping - I'm 4-5 starring some of the easier songs on Medium now, but I do need to take more breaks than I did when I was a younger rocker!

Any fans of Gauntlet?
Here's a simple rogue-like that is a partial clone of Gauntlet. I bought it, but haven't played it yet. I doubt it has hours of entertainment in it, but for a little nostalgia plus (some) added complexity, I thought I'd give it a try.

From what I've seen, this is not a winner. Not yet at least. Still, for less than 2 canuckibucks, it's worth a shot. Maybe it will develop into something fun.
