I remember the Canadian Seinfeld episode about the Soup Friend
Master of his domain.

It didn't, at least not directly. Remember, Seinfield was also a show about nothing, in Seinfeld's own words. Many of the storylines in Corner Gas amount to a similar type of thing, where by the end an episode, they're no better off than when it started, arguing about small things. Also, it's also a very popular show in reruns just like Seinfield has been, as a show that has seeped into our culture.

It's really nothing like Seinfeld. It has some observational bits but they're literary.
It's a great show.

Here's one that won't mean a thing to most Americans.
However, British Gen-Xer's (and perhaps others raised in the British commonwealth) who grew up watching this are sure to have a soft spot for this:

The way it starts so melancholy, almost sad, then springs into a driving pumping theme, but then reverses the whole movement at the end, into that sad, melancholic piano and bass ending. Song is just so sweet.

I'll second "The Man in the High Castle." One of the rare shows that I let the intro play every time.

It really is. It actually paved the way for more successes such as Schitt's Creek, and IMHO, it's a better show. It uses its single-camera setup quite well. One of my favourite episodes is when the town is trying to decide what to build as a roadside landmark. It perfectly distills the show for me.LawBeefaroni wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:11 pmIt's really nothing like Seinfeld. It has some observational bits but they're literary.

Re: Best TV Theme Songs
I'm going to delve into the dark world of children's TV and nominate a fave. It has to be a song I heard 200 times as my kids were growing up but somehow didn't make me want to throw a brick through the TV.
Sofia the First - this does everything a good theme song should do. Gives you everything you need to know about the character before the show even begins. When my daughter was little she had a Sofia shirt so I changed the lyrics to this from a shirt perspective, ending with "I'm Sofia the Shirt!" and she'd laugh hysterically.
Incidentally, Sofia the First had some great songs. They had some talented songwriters on that show.
My wife and I used to get into arguments over whether Sofia's peasant mom was just a fortunate maiden who caught the eye of the King, or a golddigging shrew that set the whole thing up in a quest for power.
