Bonus points if they get a Cottonmouth reference into the movie.

Ali can do very little wrong. He’s an excellent actor. But I hope he can chew scenery at a Wesley Snipe level.

This isn’t the first time an actor has played different characters in the MCU and Netflix shows, but it’s got to be the biggest. I’m a little bummed that this moved the Netflix shows even further outside the MCU, but Ali is a phenomenal actor and I’m excited for him to be “back”.

Don't forget that Chris Evans was originally the Human Torch. Not MCU, but still a pretty major part.

Good thing they stopped at 2 Blade films. A third might have been overkill.

Also loved 3. Biel was fine. Me and the wife loved Snipes in them all.

I loved Blade 3. Every single Biel filled minute. 2 was actually my least favorite (though I still liked it).

While Mahershala Ali is an excellent actor he's kind of small to play blade. Personally, I think they should cast Scarlett Johansen.

I think Michael Jai White could have done a great job...at least the action parts of it. He has that calm, cool badass attitude down pat. Not sure about his actual acting ability, but damn he can fuck a bloodsucker up.

Edited to add yes, Jessica B is hot in that movie. Like, surface of the sun hot.

Blade 2 had more imagination in its little finger than the rest of the franchise...well, the first film since I don’t think they ever made a third one...had in its entire body. It was directed by the great Guillermo Del Toro after all.

Rumor: Blade on ‘Indefinite Hold,’ Release Date Not to Be Expected
Contrary to recent rumors, it appears that Ali hasn’t exited the Blade project yet, though most recent reports suggest that Marvel is still looking for a director.

How do you fuck up Mahershala Ali as Blade? No direction at all from Marvel now.

My understanding is they couldn’t find a good enough script, despite multiple attempts.

I don’t know, I feel like not pushing forward a crappy movie just because you have a big star attached shows some type of direction.
