The cable kit did come with 2 brackets, and there seems to be 2 mounting points on top of the P/S shroud. Not that I ever move my CPU except when I want to muck with the insides. I need to find my air blower to REALLY clean out the inside.

Plans, there are always plans...

take a vacuum cleaner hose in there in the meantime. that'll get rid of the worst of it (you don't even have to touch the hose to the internals)

Oh, already cleaned out the worst when I upgraded the internal SSD and HDD a few weeks ago. This was easy-peasy compared to that one. I have one of those hand-held vacuums off Temu for $10 (or less). It... works, for the most part. But I really should be wearing a N95 mask and eyepro when I do this. It can wait till next weekend.

Dropped my BT receiver on the floor and this time it popped all the trim clips of the case. Clearly I didn't apply the weight properly and glue didn't quite work to fit the case back together. It works, but there's a huge gap between the two halves of the case, ARGH!

I do have a spare, but this one doesn't have a shirt clip like the other. Then I realized I can *make* one with some itty-bitty magnets I have lying around when I was buying some random crap off Temu way back when. So I... did.

So now, I have TWO BT receiver/adapters I can use regular headphones with, that basically turned them into wireless Bluetooth headphones. Neither looked very good, but both are functional.

So, just noodling around on the Talon Northwest site, seeing what a new rig might need and cost to replace my 2020 Talon. Any thoughts?

Looks great, but you should price out the same parts and see what it would cost to build the same thing yourself. I used a Falcon Northwest system as the starting point for my custom build a year ago and the markup from them was crazy... bought most of the same parts, built it myself and I think it was less than half the cost.

I would probably stay away from the RTX5090 as well...more power than anyone needs right now, and the price drop-off if you go down to a 5080 is huge.

I'm not able to build my own rigs, but I'm fine with spending a lot more to have someone build a rig that will be pretty much trouble free.

Thanks for the suggestion on the 5080, I'll scope it out.

Ultimately, if I decide to go with the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for Win10, I'll push out any gaming rig purchasing decision till mid-2026 anyway. My wife will be happy with that on her computer, she has an adversarial relationship with MS anyway and introducing a bunch of changes on her rig (she can upgrade to Win11) it just going to cause me a lot of grief. She's already pissed at the MS Word copilot assistant

If your current PC was reasonably state of the art in 2020, then it's probably capable of running Win11. Generally the cut-off is about 2018, when the 8th-gen Intel CPUs rolled out.

What is the sticking point you're seeing that indicates your PC isn't compatible with Win11? Depending on the actual issue, it might be very easy to sort it out.

As an example, my old PC (also built in 2020) was initially not eligible for Win11, but that was because the boot drive was set up as MBR, which in turn meant that I was limited to using BIOS and couldn't use secure boot. Converting the drive from MBR to GPT allowed me to switch from BIOS to UEFI which allowed me to enable secure boot and voila, my PC was now Win11 ready. Aside from how the drive had been formatted, all the hardware was ready to go once properly configured.

Sounds sketchy to be honest.
