Did I make the right choice??

Post by Daehawk »

See Ive been wanting Neverwinter Nights Platinum edition for over a month now. I thought about it as I went to bed and when i got up. But last week my friend lent me his copy of Dungeon Siege and Ive been playing it to the point where I force myself back to play it each night. Ive alos got other rpgs on here and was thinking if Ultima 7 again too.

So today at Walmart the wife says "pick you out a game and lets get out of here".. I go back...but I cant talk myself into NWN Platinum now. I ended up getting Silent Hunter 3 instead. Did I do good or make a big mistake not getting NWN?

You made a GREAT choice! Just get it patched up and you are good to go. Very easy to learn imho, but hard to master. Just steaming across the North sea in a storm is a blast. Also your first hit on full manual. Nothing but gaming goodness here. :D

I figure, if you have to talk yourself into getting a game, you probably don't want it that much. Life's too short to force yourself to play any one particular game.
I can't imagine, even at my most inebriated, hearing a bouncer offering me an hour with a stripper for only $1,400 and thinking That sounds like a reasonable idea.-Two Sheds

On the bright side, apparently the NWN Platinum DVD can be found at Target for like $20 clearance. I didn't see it at the one that I was at just now but as always it's a YMMV subject...

Both great games, I doubt you could've gone wrong getting either.

I never played SH3 but it has certainly gotten its fair share of good reviews; but, I like RPGs so I would have picked up NWN. It has certainly delivered some great gameplay - especially when you consider all of the extra modules available.

No mistake, NWN will wait patiently for you and maybe maybe will drop slightly in price - though I doubt it.

With two games like that, please explain how you could go wrong?

Daehawk, as a gamer you will definitely not regret your decision. SH3 is absolutely full of "this is why I play games" moments. Your first kill. Your first time being chased by destroyers and yelling "OMGCRASHDIVE" as shells whistle by. Sneaking around the ocean bed trying to shake off pursuers. Desperately fighting off aircraft attacks because you don't have enough battery power or air to dive. Pushing your boat to its limits and listening to the hull creak and groan as your crew whisper to each other during silent running. Using the hydrophone to morbidly listen to the sound of that merchant you torpedoed splitting apart and hitting the floor. I could go on and on. :)

I don't know - seems like you were looking at two fantasy games and then plonk for a WWii sub simulation.

Seems an almighty turn around, when I was reading it I thought you were going to conclude you had gone for DS2 - now that would have made sense.

Having played SH3 it really depends whether you rate yourself as patient or not, if not then sell it quickly and go back to one of the others :)

Both are great games, but SH3 rocks! It is SO fricking awesome. BTW if you want, I'll send you my modded files so you can fire your deck gun in stormy weather.
