So... now what?

Post by CeeKay »

With Half-Life 2 and Pirates! out my list of upcoming PC games is quite short. Sure, there's KotoR 2 and F.E.A.R., but its looking kind of lean on the PC gaming side for the next few months, if not the first half of the year. What's the next big game to be hyped about? What's got you excited?

Well, I'm kind of excited about HOI2 (gone gold), Gary Grigsby's World At War and Battlefield 2.

The first because I really tried to like the first but could never really get up the learning curve sufficiently to enjoy it; the second is supposedly going to be designed much better.

The second because it's more like a Risk or A&A on steroids but not to the point of being a grognard-level wargame like WitP.

The third because I really liked BF42. The new design seems pretty sweet, especially the scaleable map system.

Only thing im wating for is BF2. i cant wait to see if Voice comes and a squad leader / commander system will work. I fear however that smacktards can/will mess up the most intuitive teamwork system ever made.

When confronted with offensive TV, the fundamental differences between the Conservative and liberal factions becomes blatantly obvious. Conservatives will piss and moan, then file a complaint with the FCC in an attempt to make sure the offending show is never seen by anyone. Liberals... well we just change the damn channel.

It is time to buy a console. :) Think of the huge backlog of games you could play.

The only things that are really on my list any more are STALKER and F.E.A.R. Oh sure, there's stuff on the distant horizon like ESIV: Oblivion, but that's a ways off yet.

Yeah what the hell is up with Dungeon Lords?!!. Stalker is still #1 on my list. Imagine if the graphics and play are as good as HL2 but it's not on rails....mmmmmhhh. Remains to be seen if they can pull it off though. Silent Hunter 3 should be great if the subject interests you. Gothic 3 and Oblivion for sure. When are we getting GAmes with the Unreal 3 engine and will current top rigs be able to play them? Call of Chuthlu if it ever shows up.

Well unfortunately Silent Hunter III won't be till February and same gose for Dangerous Waters. So I can't think of anything left for this year I'm interested in.

I haven't been interested in a sub game since AH bored me to tears with Submarine back in the '70's, but the Silent Hunter III presentation at E3 changed that completely - it was my pick for "best of show."

Gaming threads about multiple titles belong in PC Gaming in General. This thread's being moved over there promptly.

What ever happened to "The Movies"? I remember being psyched about it almost a year ago, but the hype machine seems to have died down quite a bit since then.

Yeah, what the heck happened to The Movies? It must have slipped into 2005.

Yesterday I was thinking about this very subject: What games am I looking forward to in 2005?

And there's not a heck of a lot:

--Guild Wars
--Jade Empire (Xbox)
--Devil May Cry 3 (PS2)
--Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

That's about it. Though I think the new consoles will be announced in May and released on Xmas '05.. That will be quite exciting.

My List:

Civ 4
Gothic 3
Geneforge 3
Baldurs Gate 3 (it's coming, maybe not in 2005 though)
Neverwinter Nights 2
Fallout 3
Age of Empires 3

oh and and a little thing called:

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

Hetz, will you please be our Elder Scrolls whore-pimp master again? It would really feel like home if you where to comply.
