I usually leave my monitor on all the time (it goes into power savings mode when I shut my computer off). So yesterday I hit the power switch to my monitor by accident and then a few hours later I'm playing WoW and BOOM, I can barely see anything (I thought it was the game going to night because it was 11:00 P.M.. Well I quickly find out it's not the game but my desktop also went dark.
I can "fix" the problem by adjusting the native gamma but the screen still looks odd (it's almost like only some colors are going dark). I ruled out my monitor because my laptop can drive it no problem.
If I power my monitor off and on, it goes back to normal for a few seconds (maybe 15) but then goes dark again.
Switching resolutions did nothing (not even temporary). Unplugged the computer and monitor and reseated the graphics card (6800GT) but still nothing. Other than the dark screen everything else worls fine (no graphics glitches).
Uninstalled and reinstalled the monitor and card driver (and rolled back a couple of revisions).
It's a PNY card. The only thing I can think of is that when I turned off the power to my monitor it zapped the graphics card somehow (which should not happen obviously).
Any ideas?
