My pet peeve.
I was stricken again today, and it's finally starting to irritate me. Is there anything more annoying than buying a new game, and coming home to discover that you've got a broken jewel case inside the box?
Infuriating.
Infuriating.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

I hate BOTH of those things! I can't figure out why I'm so anal about the packaging of things, but it just seems like something bought 'new' should be in NEW condition, which includes the box and all of its contents.
kind of like a cloud I was up way up in the sky and I was feeling some feelings that I couldn't believe; sometimes I don't believe them myself but I decided I was never coming down

Yes. Opening the box and discovering:RunningMn9 wrote:I was stricken again today, and it's finally starting to irritate me. Is there anything more annoying than buying a new game, and coming home to discover that you've got a broken jewel case inside the box?
- The game, although supposedly new, is really used and the CD has scratches and fingerprints on it.
- The game comes in paper envelopes instead of a jewel case, but there isn't even a flap on the envelope, meaning the CDs slid out of the envelopes.
- The game requires a key that wasn't included in the box.
- The game fails to run on a system that meets the system requirements.

Grrr, I hate the broken teeth thing, usually accompanied by your CDs swimming all over the case, esp. if it's a quad jewel case. I also hate the ones that have the death grip on your CDs so you almost have to bend the disc into a taco to get the jewel teeth to release their clench.Vinda-Lou wrote:I've had jewel cases with the circular teeth missing, but I'd still rather have that than these paper slip covers. I have a dozen "naked" discs floating around and a dozen paper covers shoved here and there.

I would suggest not buying there anymore. There's absolutely no good reason for them to gut games. No one else does it (Walmart, BB, CC, etc) so why should they need to.Zekester wrote:Hmm, i've never had that happen.
But i am tired of seeing brand new boxes on the shelves of EB and Gamestop all ripped and crumpled from gutting.
I'd stop buying there, and write the DM and tell him why.

Too late.....I bought another game there today.I would suggest not buying there anymore. There's absolutely no good reason for them to gut games.
But I blame it all on dbt because he twisted my arm to buy UFO: Aftermath, and this was the only store around that still had it and at $15

ARGH! The death grip CD's kill me! You spend 10 minutes wriggling the bastard out, praying it doesn't snap the disc in two!Freezer-TPF- wrote:Grrr, I hate the broken teeth thing, usually accompanied by your CDs swimming all over the case, esp. if it's a quad jewel case. The best CD case I've seen to date is the ones that came with Mobile Fidelity Gold audio CD releases. You'd open the case, and the locking mechanism would lift up and release the CD at the same time, allowing you to gently remove the CD. Pure simplicity and a beautiful design.

I have 3 of those wallets filled.Biyobi wrote:I got a 200+ CD wallet for Xmas and all those cases are headed for the garage this weekend (after diligently recording the serial/key in safe place).Jeff V wrote:I throw my jewel cases away along the moment I open the box. My cases went in the trash....or, more accurately, the recycle bin.
