can't install civ3--reg problem?

i uninstalled civ3 to take off the dyp mod. on trying to reinstall the install locked at about 60%. got out of install removed program. tried to reinstall and now it thinks civ3 is on the computer. i have cleaned the registry of all civ references to no avail. everytime i try to reinstall from the disk it thinks civ 3 is installed and asks if i want to remove it. any help?

well, i always ask gonegolders first. then i go to the games support site second[never with any hope]. however, this time they had the answer. there is a particular reg entry that sometimes doesn't get removed. they identify it. problem solved.

But...this makes no sense! Unless, of course, you need to install Conquests so that you can play Rise and Rule.
