Which one and why?

Post by Ripstar »

I like both of these genres.

Since I can choose only one, which would be the better of these two games?
Medal of Honor, Pacific Assault or Il Sturmovick Pacific Fighters.

That is an impossible question to answer.

One is an action-shooter with a short, linear campaign and traditional FPS multiplayer.

The other is a realistic flight simulator with lots of campaigns, missions, and so on.

They are so different that it isn't really possible to say which one is 'better'.

Sure it is. You just need to apply criteria other than traditional models of gameplay.

Both of these are games about the pacific ocean. Personally, I prefer games about the atlantic ocean, but hey, everyone has their own tastes. Now in Il Sturmovick Pacific Fighters, you're fighting with the ocean with two Sturmovicks. In Medal of Honor, Pacific Assault you're apparently assaulting the ocean with a medal. Assaulting the ocean seems like an awfully mean and one-sided thing to do. And using a medal to do it is just silly. Fighting the ocean implies many fisticuffs, and Sturmovick is fun to say.

So I'd go with Il Sturmovick Pacific Fighters

Well thats easy for me. i say Sturmovick, its hands down one of the best flight sims ive ever played. MoH:PA on the other hand, was in my opinion one of the least innovative games of the year. Infact to me its hands down one of the worst games of the year.

When confronted with offensive TV, the fundamental differences between the Conservative and liberal factions becomes blatantly obvious. Conservatives will piss and moan, then file a complaint with the FCC in an attempt to make sure the offending show is never seen by anyone. Liberals... well we just change the damn channel.

I don't know what happened to make Chris post more often, but I want more of it to happen.

Oh and Il Sturmovick is my pick, even though I don't like sims. MoH:PA seems like MOTS with a few tweaks. Il Sturm seems like MOTS too, but how many sims are there... that do it this good?

Very different games. If your in the mood for a great pac sim, get Pac fighters. If you want another meh shooter, get MOH. Personally, I would go with PF.

One big drawback though, time compression sucks, so be prepared to spend some time going to and from missions, unless you play instant battles. Carrier touch and go's are teh fun.

Topics about multiple released titles belong over in PC Gaming in General. I'm giving this one a lift over there.

Forgotten Battles + Aces Expansion + Pacific Fighters every time. It's a great game.
