Question about CD/DVD burning software--what's good?

Post by Papageno »

I'm considering getting the much-praised NEC ND 3520A burner from Newegg, but I'm wondering if I should bother paying a couple more bucks for the Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic DVD (it's only two bucks or so more, so the money is obviously no big deal) or what other software I should be using with it. I want to use the software to back up data on my HD, back up my software, etc., so I want something that does it all.

Should I buy a product from Nero? I already have something called DVD-Mate that from the same people that used to make CD-Mate. Or is the Roxio product good enough?

the Roxio product will do just about anything you need. many people like Nero instead, but it really is just a matter of personal preference. for basic functions like mass storage and backups, Roxio's software will do just fine...and it's dirt cheap if you get it with the burner.
