My favorite time loop film to date has been
Edge of Tomorrow (or
Live Die Repeat). Aside from just "getting better at things" and figuring out the trigger to stop the day, they do a good job of showing the main character (Cruise) developing strong emotions over time that leads to constant suffering, and that he's clearly worked a lot of angles. And the time loop wasn't just a "morality lesson" - they squeezed some SciFi paste on it to spice it up.
When I watch those movies, I end up wondering how many lifetimes of days go by. I think I read somewhere that they did the math on
Groundhog Day, and based on the skills he developed and knowledge he had, he may have been trapped in that one day for over
32 years.
