Seems like a new shipment of Moderna hit SC. A bunch of places had appointments this morning for early next week. Managed to snag one for Monday morning, although it's a bit disconcerting that I haven't gotten a confirmation email about it yet.

COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
Ooh, thanks for posting! Through what provider did you find one? I don’t see any available that are within 2 hours drive.Ralph-Wiggum wrote:Seems like a new shipment of Moderna hit SC. CVS shows they have some available in my city but their site is getting slammed right now.
Edit: nvm DHEC site is apparently updating vaccine locations in real time and they change at almost every refresh I do. How is it changing so fast?! Wow.

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
My hospital system is urging me to register through their portal.
The portal tells me my PCP must activate my portal registration.
My PCP tells me they are a private practice affiliate and cannot activate my portal but rather they have a different portal. They don't have an ETA as to when they vaccine will be available their office.
The county are miles away from me being on the list.
So I'm waiting for a pharmacy registration to contact me because my doctor/hospital system having nothing after three months. I feel for all the people before me in his practice and what they must have gone through.
Still... Every step forward is a step forward. I'm actually in someone's database now.

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
I just went through every available offering from the DHEC site and there is nothing available (I think it searched a 100 mile radius). CVS says I'm not eligible by their rules. Tried to sign up for VAMs on Tuesday and was supposed to have gotten the first step email by today - still nothing. Trying to be patient.Carpet_pissr wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:24 amOoh, thanks for posting! Through what provider did you find one? I got mine through Walgreens (which I had never seen available appointments at before) and a friend got her appointment through CVS. Walgreens had available appointments at every local store, but I think they got snatched up pretty quickly.Carpet_pissr wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:24 amOoh, thanks for posting! Are you using this site? It's the one that seems to most often have appointments. Currently I'm seeing appointments available at Bennettsville and Mayesville, but appointments at other locations seems to pop up pretty regularly (i.e. every 15 minutes or so).stessier wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:43 amI just went through every available offering from the DHEC site and there is nothing available (I think it searched a 100 mile radius). Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
So just catching up here, the seeming real-time DHEC updates on their page are bogus? I don’t want to waste time refreshing their site if so.
I already sorta went through this finding one for my mom, where many places were said to have BOTH vaccine AND availability, but when you actually went through and registered and 20m later got to proper screen... nope!

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
I think that's just because they get snatched up quickly. Just sort of have to be lucky with the timing. I was able to get one through DHEC a few days back (which I'll be canceling once I get this new one on Monday) and know others that have scheduled appointments through that site. I don't think the main DHEC site that lists all the places that have vaccines (e.g. CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.) is very helpful, except to get an idea of what vaccines each place is using.

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
Just saw one available slot open up at a not TOO far away WM (15m drive). My wife had signed up for one yesterday that's 1.5 hours away, and I told her to just wait, as I bet tons of availability (much closer) would be opening up within a week, two tops. I gave her that one, now I am on the hunt.
My goal? J&J vaccine within a 10m drive.

My handicap in this game is I don't know where these cities are, so I have to Map them before I click on the link. Just missed on in Belton - sounded familiar and was only 35 miles away, but it was gone by the time I'd mapped it.
Mid and Low Country seem to have a lot more options popping up.

That's funny because earlier in the week all the locations seemed to have been in the Upstate (am I using that right?). But I also have had to Google just about every town to see how far away they were. I'm learning a lot about SC geography!stessier wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:22 am My handicap in this game is I don't know where these cities are, so I have to Map them before I click on the link. Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
The CVS and Walgreens sites are just getting hammered.
I have no idea if the seeming auto-refreshing CVS site is actually working or not, or if I should manually be refreshing.
I have this screen up: "Sit tight, we’ll help schedule your vaccination soon." and it keeps "blinking" about every 15 secs if that makes sense. I assume it actually has me in line, but no idea.
Walgreens is "Service Unavailable. Pleas try again."
This feels very much like trying to score good concert seat tickets. Except much harder.

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
I'm shocked you don't know where Varnville, SC is!
Hell, half the places listed I saw this morning (now there are none on the same page), I had never heard of, and I was born and raised here. Most of these places were way out in the boonies, as it were.
It doesn't help that they actually keep misspelling some of the city names. My wife was trying to click on one for Bennesville and she asked me where that was. I said "AFAIK, no such place. They probably mean BENNETTSVILLE" (which they did). Error persists today.

It took about 45m for it to come out of that "waiting" state - only to tell me after I answered a few eligibility questions, that no vaccine was available near me. Nice!

CVS did that for an hour for me before I shut it down and went with Ralph's site. I got an appointment Monday at 1pm. It's an hour drive, but I can make it work. Thanks for the heads up!!!!Carpet_pissr wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:31 am The CVS and Walgreens sites are just getting hammered.

99.9% chance that your PCP is an independent and uses a different EMR than the hospital system. If the system has supply, I'd recommend getting registered on their portal another way and getting the jab from them. Not sure what you guys are all doing in the Massachusetts vaccination thread.
Anyway, Massachusetts launched a preregistration site this morning. I signed myself up, so they'll text me when there's availability for me. Which won't be for a least a few weeks I expect since I'm not in the currently eligible group. I am fortunately fat enough to have one comorbidity, so I'm just a couple groups away from being eligible.

We're eligible to be maskless in the office since we're at 100% but habits die hard.

I tried, they have a process and that's that. Woot! Got an appointment for next week. I do wish they would let you know WHICH vaccine you will be getting since it would be nice to know if I need to schedule a second or not. I guess they don't want people "shopping around" for the one shot ones.
On the other hand, people like my aunt who are allergic to PEG have to know which one they are getting (to date only the JNJ one that I know of, doesn't have PEG).

Re: COVID-19 treatment and vaccine update thread
The other DHEC site sometimes has that information, though I think it might be more in flux now with these new shipments coming in. For instance, CVS was almost exclusively giving the J&J shot this week, but my friend who got scheduled for next week is getting Moderna. So who knows.Carpet_pissr wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 1:23 pm Woot! Got an appointment for next week. I do wish they would let you know WHICH vaccine you will be getting since it would be nice to know if I need to schedule a second or not. I guess they don't want people "shopping around" for the one shot ones.

Kroger is also a source for anyone still looking (and you can stay on the page and hit refresh quite easily). Saw a couple slots open up there this morning.

Got my first Moderna shot this morning. The person administering it said it was her first day and I'm pretty sure I was her first shot of the day since she didn't know where things were. I'm just hoping she injected me with the correct vaccine....

It's almost as if people are the problem.
