Vaping next to pregnant woman. Taking photo with her phone during show. Seem to be high. Getting groped in public by her date?

It really stands out in that field of view. Theater etiquette is a thing. Everyone else in the room knows how to behave, but a member of Congress acts like she's at a skeevy honky tonk.

To be fair, she reciprocated with a bit of a handy.

Also, while looking into what it means*, I discovered that they exist for every breed, and that there are versions with the regular flag and Confederate flag.
*The best I could find was that nobody knows - my guess is that it's some designers idea for a money grab by appealing to assholes who love dogs.

I assumed it was a product originally meant to honor fallen police dogs, that had an 'any breed'/'any flag' aspect to its creation; and that then turned into this.

Maybe the dog was shot by the police for being too "threatening".

The more basic version I've seen is a normal American flag being pulled aside to reveal a Trump, Blue Lives Matter, or Gadsden Flag. The logic seems to be that the underlying ideology supports or grounds or shores up the American flag (although that's kind of a weird reversal of what a sane-thinking person would believe).
The dog and cross version seems to be an evolution of that logic: "whatever is shown beneath the US flag is what I *really* care about."
All in all, it's a self-own. "My patriotism is just cover."

I mean...maybe? I've never seen this before, and I'm basically as confused as the person that wrote that tweet.
Although I also REALLY like this

In the last 10 seconds of this clip, some representative from California says: "Mr. Secretary, it's good to see you. You can see that I serve in Congress with some of the greatest minds of the 19th century."
I actually think "twentieth" century would have been more on point.

The concept of 'Climate Change' by way of carbon dioxide wasn't proposed until the late 1800s.
So, the greatest minds of the nineteenth century would not have bought into the idea (in theory).
I don't understand how changing it to the 20th century would be more on point.
Saying 'the greatest minds of the 21st century' would just be pure sarcasm.
Saying 'the greatest minds of the dark ages' would be fine, but perhaps too crude.
Saying 'the greatest minds of the 19th century' makes sense with regard to climate change theory.
Saying 'the greatest minds of the 20th century', I just don't actually even get... may as well just say 21st century, no?

For the record. I'm ok with crude if the situation calls for it.

I'm certainly not averse to crude in some situations, but I kinda like the finer point of 'intellectual accuracy' when someone is throwing down shade about another person's intelligence. And it's extra zingy if the 'stupid guy' doesn't even get it.

Yeah, he handled the idiocy well. I’m sure it took the guy weeks to come up with his very clever, edgy joke, and it took Mayor Pete about 3 seconds to defuse it after hilariously trying to simply process The Stupid that he probably couldn’t believe he had heard.

I think 20th century is more on point because the climate deniers are literally stuck in the mindset of a quarter century ago. And many of them are fossils born early in that epoch.

In the 18th century we were still figuring out what 'science' was an how it worked. We didn't have the scientific method (as we know it now), so people get a pass for bad explanations.
The 20th century had some ideas that are now outdated.
The 19th century, though, was the time when the basic methods were in place, and science was starting to catch on outside of scholarly circles. But we were still figuring the process out, while making enough new discoveries that flights of fancy and absurdity were still common. Science was still 'natural philosophy.'
The good. We had science, and we were using it to try and figure out the world.
The bad. We hadn't figured out how to tell science from bullshit (this improved over the course of the century): Phrenology. Mars had canals. Illness was still caused by bad humours. It "proved" that Black people were inferior (hello, eugenics.) We still learned about medicine through vivisection. We still thought that living creatures arose spontaneously from inanimate matter.
The anti-climate debate isn't about disproven theories. It's about flights of fancy masquerading as science. "Best minds of the 19th century" works.

Actually, I take that back. The best minds of the 19th century were the ones that figured out that all of the bullshit was bullshit. These guys weren't ever the best minds.

No, but I will.
Honestly, most of us have known each other for decades. We know each others' views on things, and once we've repeated the latest news, we tend to fall back on casual conversation a lot - just like any group of friends would. We're the old guys, standing on the front porch of the mercantile, using a game of checkers as an excuse to laugh and grumble.
