I have claimed, for snacking purposes, the snickers bar in your grocery bag.

I have claimed, for driving purposes, the Miata in your garage.

I have claimed, for viewing purposes, season 2 of Golden Girls.

...this is how I talk now.

FB has gone through an interesting evolution. When I first heard of it, it was Myspace for college students. Then after some time my brother in law heard about it and asked me what it was. By that point it was mostly being used to hook up, so that's what I told him. Then he told me the reason he asked was one of his close friends(married) was on it all the time lol. Oops, I wouldn't have described it that way if I had known why he was asking.

Somehow here in 2020 it's known for being used for political/conspiracy purposes. It just goes to show you can't really predict what purposes internet tools and services will wind up being used for as time goes on.
It's funny - my three teenagers all just think it's social media for old people. They and their friends won't go near FB with a 10 foot pole.

when I started (sometime after Poking was a thing) it was primarily for public diary keeping, social planning, and pay to advance browser games. I even found myself sucked into Mafia for a bit. Almost instantly it migrated to bored housewives platform (which I am guessing was also for finding and hooking up with old flames and acquaintances, married or not) and it was the place to record your children and pets and then it was place for "memes" and personality assessments, like a giant collection of that guy who lived to forward emails that he thought were funny. Those memes all turned political in 2015. After succumbing to maintaining a mostly political news (without the memes) wall, it took my four years to turn the lights off.

I want my public dairy keeping and social planning back. I really enjoyed it back then.

It has to be hard for them to realize that GOP voters in various states actively decided to elect GOP House or Senate members but ultimately voted for Biden instead.

Matt Gaetz is out there declaring his loyalty, and he has just turned on Nikki Haley (who tweeted something bland about waiting for the lawful results) as a betrayer.

I thought she put forth a cogent picture of ignoring the law (if true) and reasonable desire for bipartisan monitoring (if there is none) right up until " of which the President has nominated three justices - to step in and do something. And hopefully Amy Coney Barrett will come through" wherein their cogent case sounded like the SC stepping in is cause for rioting in the streets. Why would she add that?

I get that without a real mandate (and to be clear, I am depressed that this election is not a mandate as they love to say)...without a real mandate Biden in 2021 would have to work with a whole lotta people I could never work with but if Geatz and Nunez and the like continue to wield control and have fucked up large portion at the table, then I got nothin'. Cause I don't see path to say we're recovering.

The "if true" part is the problem. I saw other videos about what is happening. The lawyers are allowed in but they are whining that they can't stand where they want or making claims about how the election officials are positioning machines - I'm not going to dig it up but there is a video with Corey Lewandowski floating around where a woman was making these claims. It's all horse shit so the end statement is what this is about. They are trying to gin up some scenario where they can go try this thing out in court. And it won't happen. In the end, this is all performative to rile up a response.

Exactly this.

The desperate hope is that somehow it goes to the Supreme Court. Failing that, it's designed to generate unrest in the streets and delegitimize Biden's administration.

'Legal votes' is pretty much code for one party rule now. They've been spending this entire century de-legitimizing the Democratic party and refusing to share power. And I guess we just have to hope it doesn't spiral out of control.

Trump's much touted "takeover" of the judiciary is bearing no fruit.
Federal judges have already begun to toss last-minute lawsuits brought by President Donald Trump's campaign, which has turned to attempting to litigate a victory as its electoral hopes dwindle.

The campaign, which has falsely alleged that Democrats are trying to "steal" the election by counting all the votes cast, has so far filed lawsuits in three states: Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Within hours, judges had thrown out the suits in Georgia and Michigan. The Supreme Court has already declined once to rule on the Pennsylvania case.

On Thursday, the campaign announced its intent to file a fourth suit in Nevada. It has also vowed to request a recount in Wisconsin, where Democratic nominee Joe Biden has what appears to be an unassailable 20,000-vote lead.

Election law experts called the suits frivolous and unlikely to make a difference.

"They're totally small potatoes," Jon Sherman, senior counsel at the Fair Elections Center, told Salon. "Each has been rejected so far, and honestly, I'd rather not give them any oxygen."

The takeover wasn't to win this election - it was to set precedents for years to come. We won't know if it truly worked for years, but there is no reason to think it won't.

From what I understand, and IANAFL, the lawsuits themselves were laughable and would embarass even a first-year law student. Even "Trump" judges need a pitch somewhere in the neighborhood of home plate. The Trump legal squad was throwing balls 20 feet high and 11 feet outside.

That was the GOP’s goal with the judicial takeover. Trump’s goal was a judiciary that would be loyal to whatever bullshit he wants.
