Edit: Oh and the US just revoked the visa of a top Putin critic in coordination with the Russians adding him to an interpol watch list. WTF is going on?

Edit2: Here is a NY Times piece giving the background on this - how the Russians are peddling an insane conspiracy theory to go after the guy who put the thumbscrews on Russian oligarchs money.
Remember the "adoption" meetings?
In response to U.S. passage of the Magnitsky Act, Russia cut off the U.S. adoption of Russian children — which led to a meeting during last year's presidential campaign between a Moscow lawyer and representatives of the Trump campaign at Trump Tower.
That bullshit about Trump being unbuyable because he is rich is so laughable. He's probably more buyable because he's so transparently envious of those who are richer than he is.

Just came here to post on this

http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-bro ... ia-2017-10

I really fear that we're never going to bounce back from this. I step away from the news and everything seems OK right now but every time I come back, it's like the conspiracy stuff of the 80s, only it's all real.

I am hoping this was something automated - meaning his status in our system is tied into Interpol's status. If so it needs to be reversed. If that isn't what happened and this is coordinated then it certainly looks like something could be really, really fucking wrong.

He's probably the most protected man in the world. In addition to being the richest. He'll live for a long, long time provided he doesn't get into his own puloneum supply. Or fall off a bucking rhino he's riding for sport.

At Steve Wynn's urging, Trump decides to deport Chinese dissident.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/ ... ter-report
The Guardian wrote:Donald Trump called for the deportation of a Chinese dissident living in the US, after receiving a request from Beijing hand-delivered by a casino owner with business interests in China, according to a US report.
And then is talked out of it by advisers who told Trump Guo is a Mar-A-Lago member.

So now a Mar-A-Lago membership also includes "safe from deportation" benefit. :)

Remember back in July when they twisted Trump's arm and made a big show of him (reluctantly) signing the sanctions against Russia. You may want to sit down for this, but none of them are being enforced.
The administration has since blown past an October 1 deadline to implement the sanctions. Lawmakers are now searching for answers as to whether the president is even planning to follow the law that they passed and he signed.

“If they don’t cooperate, then further actions need to be taken,” Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told The Daily Beast on Monday. The Arizona senator, who chairs the powerful Armed Services Committee and has spoken out against the White House on its attitude toward Moscow, said the administration has left him in the dark.

Just as a general principle, since I certainly have no sympathy for PGOTUS, how is the secret service allowing anything to be thrown at a sitting president?

I'm sure you guys can all jump behind this.
President Trump should name himself to be head of the Federal Reserve.

Eliminate the middleman. Save on a salary. Cut to the nitty-gritty: The Fed is not going to do anything Wall Street or Washington doesn’t like, no matter who is the boss.

So pick the one guy who’s in charge of Washington (at least in his mind) and beholden to Wall Street. That one man is Donald J. Trump.

And this way, when Trump changes his mind about interest rates — too low when he was a mere candidate, yet he doesn’t want them raised now that he’s president — he won’t have to explain his flip-flops.

It won’t only save money, it will also be fun.

Great.. So now the terrorists know they can bring loaded flags within proximity of the President.

Sure, let's put someone whose tax cuts are actually tax increases to the middle class in charge of the Fed. That would go swimmingly.

I've never met a single intelligent person that felt compelled to say the words "I'm a very intelligent person". Not one time.

I've met people that have said that out loud, but the people who have done that aren't intelligent people. They're unintelligent people who are desperately insecure about it.

I have. However the context of proclaiming to be intelligent is usually an antecedent to recognizing the limitations of their ability grasp something.

I'm a smart guy, but....
I'm a pretty intelligent dude, but...

But more importantly, I'm totally lost on the connection between being civil and being intelligent or being civil and having been to an Ivy League school. And I don't have a concept of how associating Ivy League with intelligence either. Being from rust bell, the first and perhaps only thing I associate Ivy League with is family name or family money...

And it's not the press that makes you out to be uncivil. It's your tweets. It's your interviews. It's your speeches. If you fail to comprehend that, then you may just need to revisit you intelligence premise.

That's a different thing altogether. That's not actually a declaration of intelligence. That's just a clever lead-in to calling something stupid or unclear.

If you've actually met someone that is actually intelligent, that said "I'm a very intelligent person" (hard stop), I'd be surprised.

Very intelligent people don't have to tell people they are very intelligent, because it's obvious. You only have to tell people when it's not obvious. And when it's not obvious, it's because you aren't actually a very intelligent person. You only think you are, and are incredibly self-conscious about others not noticing.

Also, I'm just trying to imagine Obama deflecting criticism by saying, "I went to Harvard, okay? I'm a smart guy". It would be a week long controversy about him being smug and "elitist" and completely dismissive of middle america.
