Yes, and we have rules about how we decide what our responsibilities are. Congress is at the heart of that system. Now I suspect we agree that Congress is broken, but that doesn't change the role it has to play. And it is very deliberately NOT playing that role.First that isn't completely accurate and as Smoove_B mentioned...that's part of that job? It's also irrelevant. Paying taxes isn't popular either but we live in a civilization.
I'm not proud of myself when I say "No" to that. A large number of people have basically embraced a death wish. Just to spite Libruhls.Drazzil wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 4:06 amAm I wrong for hoping that this winter the Delta burns through the red states like Sherman burned through the south?
I know, and I'm sorry. I have nothing but sympathy for those who tried to do the right things through this and still come out hurting.Ralph-Wiggum wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 8:34 amYeah, but some of us anti-Trumpers (ANTIFA???) live in those red states.

He's saying the opposite. He's saying that there is a conspiracy to use COVID to kill conservatives. He's an evil man.LordMortis wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:10 am On the one hand, Lin Wood is nuts, so I can see that statement being a nuts statement.
On the intuitive hand, Lin Wood is saying what every one saying "just get your damned shot" has been saying all along and it sounds like a plea to change your stance and not treat immunization as a partisan issue.
I can't give Wood the benefit of the doubt because there was no statement that said "get your damned shot" but boy does it sound like a plea.
He's not alone in having that opinion, either.LawBeefaroni wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:12 amHe's saying the opposite. He's saying that there is a conspiracy to use COVID to kill conservatives. That's the one hand. But when I read it without the context of knowing Wood's a nut, it sounds like a plea. What reasonable person could think CDC and hospital systems are conspiring against republicans and the shot is a red herring while US medicine is killing people based on their knowledge of voting records. That's Modest Proposal writing. He's outlining the dire need to not treat COVID a partisan issue. There are no coincidences. Connect the dots.LawBeefaroni wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:12 amHe's saying the opposite. He's saying that there is a conspiracy to use COVID to kill conservatives. You are completely misreading what Lin wrote, even if read without the context of knowing Wood's a nut. For him, connecting the dots is that his two conservative friends got Covid, were treated in a hospital, and died anyway = Covid is partisan.LordMortis wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:39 amThat's the one hand. He leads off stating that the NIH, CDC, doctors and hospitals are misleading and killing "us" based on political agenda and profit motives. He's providing all the needed context right there.LordMortis wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:39 amThat's the one hand. Isn't it funny how God hates the same people that they do?YellowKing wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:34 am Funny how when it's a hurricane wiping out a liberal population it's "God's cleansing wrath" but when it's COVID wiping out conservatives it's an evil conspiracy.

If you're vaccinated you will *probabally* be fine. I haven't heard of many cases of breakthru where ppl die.Ralph-Wiggum wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 8:34 am Yeah, but some of us anti-Trumpers (ANTIFA???) live in those red states.![]()
Poor decision.
Is it though? I'm prepared to make the case that if you go around without a mask and don't vaccinate, you are culpable in murdering those around you. When you drive drunk and wipe out and kill a family, you are punished to the fullest extent of the law. If you go unmasked, and un vaccinated and you expose a family and they die, that's just tough breaks I suppose? I would argue that not taking proper precautions is worse then drunk driving, as you can expose hundreds, or even thousands before you even know you have it.

If you are vaccinated and do mask there is still some risk of transmission. Would that be like "buzzed" driving?Drazzil wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 3:50 pmIs it though? The number of deaths in FL sure make it seem like they are under-reportingSmoove_B wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:43 am Just some numbers from last night:

CDC warns older adults, travelers in COVID high-risk groups not to take cruises, even if they're vaccinated
There should be consequences. I don't know what they should be. They shouldn't be made to die, no. And I won't cheer when they do. I can't wish a covid death on anyone.Drazzil wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 3:50 pmIs it though?
