Trump asked around for "the toughest guy on Defense," and the Pentagon took the opportunity to name someone good.
FWIW I am also pretty happy with Trump's pick for the SEC (Jay Clayton). From what I can tell so far he seems like a serious person who cares about the Commission's enforcement mission and protecting investors. I assume he's going to be more conservative on regulations, but Enforcement wise things seem pretty good so far.
So you think Clayton reads these forums, huh?
I'm pretty sure that pr0ner is Clayton.
I'm not sure what to say in response to this.

Mostly Representatives do that so they sound less 2nd tier.

NO. My wife and I love Disney, and I'm very upset that I can never go back into the Hall of Presidents. I started kicking things last time we were there and they had the "Closed to welcome our new President" sign out.

Matthew Petersen: Test-flunking Trump judge nominee withdraws
US President Donald Trump's latest judiciary nominee has withdrawn his name after failing to answer basic legal questions at his Senate confirmation hearing.

Video of Matthew Petersen's embarrassing encounter went viral.

"It has become clear to me over the last few days that my nomination has become a distraction," Mr Petersen wrote in a letter.

Mr Petersen was nominated as a federal judge in the District of Columbia.

Mr Trump had accepted his offer to withdraw, the White House said.

Mr Peterson, a Republican member of the Federal Election Commission, is the latest of Mr Trump's conservative judicial nominations to fail.

At the hearing, Mr Peterson stumbled over questions asked by Republican Senator John Kennedy.

Yes, he's withdrawing because his nomination has become a distraction. That's the ticket.

So Twitter has banned the Britain First group that Drumpf famously retweeted in November.

If only they had the balls to do the same the next time there are bad people on both sides.

I really don't think the Pope is endorsing Trump's persecution delusions here.

I guess we really do have to give Trump credit for relentlessly seizing "FAKE NEWS" and making it his own.

How many people remember that when the term was first being used, it referred to clickbait lies about Hillary being arrested for her emails or Obama ordering that the election be cancelled? Remember all those stories showing up on Facebook and as ads in the margins of more legitimate websites?

You know that the Pope isn't talking about the real news that Trump claims is fake news, right?

Is it sad that I'd vote for that animatronic dummy over what we have right now? It has some dignity, some reserve, and isn't threatening our allies or supporting white nationalists. I think it's sad. I need a drink.

Would a president removed from office be removed from the Hall of Presidents?

I would pay to see animatronic Washington and Lincoln hold him down and rip his wires out.

Do we want to place bets on how long it will be until it's vandalized?

I'm not saying I support the idea, but that would be some sweet, sweet catharsis.

I am in no position to offer any sort of support to anyone choosing to do that but I would certainly feel happy they did it. The least Disney could do is have animatronic Obama kicking Trump in the ass.

Yeah, that "I'm not eating peas!" posture is totally incongruous. Maybe the meeting went on past his tolerance. He looks like he'd rather be in his happy place, watching TV and tweeting.
