Doesn't the IRS kinda have the last word on tax obligations? Or is this yet another thing that trump can deflect with endless court actions?

I read Trump declared he had a memo from the “former head of the IRS.” No doubt appointed to help his misdeeds from becoming public.

I'm still trying to figure out how the voter frauders managed to get Biden elected but failed to make sure the Dems didn't lose seats in the House. Or why, if it was so easy to swing an election through fraud, they didn't just make Hillary win in 2016.

Elections are only legit if your side wins, if the other side wins it's voter fraud? When your guy wins does it mean the voter frauders just sat that election out? I mean that's the same logic sports fans use. When their team wins it was a great victory, when their team loses the refs were rigging it. As Dark Brandon would say, "Come on, man!"

I'm pretty sure the line is that in 2016 Trump would have won a landslide popular vote were it not for widespread election fraud. Remember Trump taking up fraud for months going into the election? He backed off after the win but still blamed fraud for him not getting the 'uge 20 point margin that so beloved a candidate should have gotten.

Can you believe he didn’t win in New York after all he’s done for the city? Clearly scheming and foul play are afoot. I’m sure I saw Joe Biden personally stuffing ballot papers with Bernie sanders, Satan and a host of other demons at the corner of fourth and main on election night 2016 AND 2020.

Look at all these angels appearing from heaven to support Trump.

Trump bribed witnesses?

https://www.propublica.org/article/dona ... l-benefits
Nine witnesses in the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump have received significant financial benefits, including large raises from his campaign, severance packages, new jobs, and a grant of shares and cash from Trump’s media company.

The benefits have flowed from Trump’s businesses and campaign committees, according to a ProPublica analysis of public disclosures, court records and securities filings. One campaign aide had his average monthly pay double, from $26,000 to $53,500. Another employee got a $2 million severance package barring him from voluntarily cooperating with law enforcement. And one of the campaign’s top officials had her daughter hired onto the campaign staff, where she is now the fourth-highest-paid employee.

These pay increases and other benefits often came at delicate moments in the legal proceedings against Trump. One aide who was given a plum position on the board of Trump’s social media company, for example, got the seat after he was subpoenaed but before he testified.

Clearly team orange is going to try and get everything labeled as an official act , at least as much as they can.
He has already been impeached, and is no longer in office.

But the "official act" is a double edge sword, the question is, will Biden or Dark Brandon use it? Is there an intern keeping a list of all drumpfs 'official acts' and when it reaches critical mass, he gets declared a terrorist or a danger to national security?

The beauty of the ruling is that it doesn't define official acts. If Biden tried that the finding would be that he was acting outside the scope of office, so it's not an official act. If Trump tries it, obviously it's an official act.

Seems like it takes several years after the deed is done for courts to decide anything these days. A couple of years with no access to social media or the public eye due to being a 'terrorist' would destroy TFG, while the lawyers are arguing it out.

No its not ethical, its straight from the playbook of the folks who are against civil rights. But nothing like a taste of your own medicine to find out how bad it is.

Except the SCOTUS would accept and grant an immediate interlocutory appeal to prevent that from happening.

Well, did God also intervene in this situation?

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/15/us/p ... issed.html
A federal judge dismissed in its entirety the classified documents case against former President Donald J. Trump on Monday, ruling that the appointment of the special counsel, Jack Smith, had violated the Constitution.

In a stunning ruling, the judge, Aileen M. Cannon, found that because Mr. Smith had not been named to the post of special counsel by the president or confirmed by the Senate, his appointment was in violation of the appointments clause of the Constitution.
Other legal experts on the forum can hopefully chime in on this but is she right? (Many legal experts are using the word, "unprecedented". I see a Supreme Court appointment in this judge's future... )

The seeds for this ruling may have been planted by a recent ruling. Quoted from the Washington Post:
But the legal argument gained more steam earlier this month after Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the presidential immunity case that the special counsel’s office needs to be established by Congress and that Smith needed to be confirmed by the Senate.

Thomas urged lower courts to explore this issue. The justice wrote that he tacked on his concurring opinion to the immunity ruling to “highlight another way in which this prosecution may violate our constitutional structure.
And Cannon seems to have taken this guidance to heart when other courts dismissed this long shot appeal by the defense.

She was in the bag for trump from the start, but I didn't expect such a blatant ending. Stealing those documents and then lying about it was his third-worst crime, after trying to steal GA (#2) and inciting the assault on the capitol (#1). I reckon those will get swept aside in short order.

USA Today
Both Democratic and Republican administrations have appointed special counsels as well as independent counsels (a precursor to special counsels) to oversee investigations with greater independence and avoid the appearance of a conflict-of-interest in politically-sensitive investigations. Those appointments have been been consistently upheld in court.

This isn't quite the ending yet, as this will get appealed. I doubt the final decision here will happen before the election, though.

I can't even begin to image what this is all doing to American intel and security right now.

What country in their right mind would share ANY sensitive information with the US, knowing that it could end up on the floor of a Mar-a-lago shitter waiting to be sold to the highest bidder...and the American legal system has rubber stamped that as being perfectly ok?
