Remember that the pre order maps are limited. So go as soon as you can to pick up your copy or you might not get one even after pre ordering. it's not a given that you receive one.

To be honest, if I wanted a collector quality map, I'd pay an actual cartographer or artist to draw one and print on really nice paper that I could hang on the wall.

Otherwise, any useful maps will be on the internet within a week. ;)

Maps either get folded up and put away or put up on a wall and forgotten about. I see no reason to get worked up over them.

Definitely getting it (on the PS3). Times like this make me want to scurry through my old crap and pull out Baldir's Gate (the original).

Mmmmm...love it!

Screw it. Budget this month ended up better than I'd expected. I'm in. It's Elder Scrolls, after all, and I have a reputation to maintain.

Yeah back in the day, didn't you send out all those mods for Daggerfall, right? It wasn't Oblivion..

Man, I still have that CD sitting in my collection. That was awesome by the way... One reason while I will never leave this message board...

I had the Skryim PC DVD box in my hand at Toys R Us today. Someone put it out early.

It wasn't actually buyable, but I touched it.

They had the 360 and PS3 copies out at Target. Didn't try to buy one, but I'm thinking they probably wouldn't stop you.

Yeah, the Friday release is being broken all over the place. Except for PC uses, of course, since Steam allows them to enforce it regardless of what retailers do.

I wonder if we will see something similar on the console side next generation.

Damn, too many games ....
I never played Morrowind or Oblivion to an end. That said, i have put decent amount of hours in each. That's where conundrum comes in, do i get it or do i wait for sale. Will probably wait for first impressions first since i am busy on friday. Usually it would grab me for a few days, but then i would quickly lose in interest.

Well that's what they get for releasing on a Friday.

I was thinking the same thing so I went with the X-Box 360 version. That way I'll have no problems running the game and I'll get to play it on a 46" HD screen.

Why do you say that? It's a quad core, so thats in the "recommended" range per Bethesda. The 2.0Ghz limitation only applies to dual cores.

ah, looks like I won't be able to run it. I have a duel core....1.6 (3.2 total) and it says it needs a duel core 2.0 (4.0 total?)

Oh well.

I think I'll pick up a copy of Skyrim next week when I'm in Singapore.

The retail copy will activate through Steam, right?

Totally was ignoring the hype over this, as I wasn't that thrilled with Morrowind or Oblivion (blashphemy, I know). Played both, but enjoyed Daggerfall more "back in the day" despite the buggy nature.

Read a review this morning.. talking about the open-ended world.. with all the quest and faction options... all of the stuff I love about the Elder Scrolls games... (wait... or am I thinking of the upcoming card game? hmmmm... )

Anyway, just pre-ordered... and should supposedly get the release-day shipping despite the lateness of the order. We'll see. Should look nice on my new-ish, relatively untested desktop. Whee!

My wife, who is not a gamer, has agreed to go with me to Gamestop at midnight to pick up my copy. Not that I can play as I have to go to work Friday, but I think it is just cool that my wife is willing to go out with me to do this geeky thing.

Plus my Mom is watching the kids for us so we can go out, but Ma lives with us so that's not a big deal, and the kids will all be asleep, heck mom will most likely be asleep as well..

I love my wife....

I tried to convince my wife to go to Gamestop with me tonight, but she wants nothing to do with it. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up.

One question, though. I received a text from Gamestop saying I could pick up my game at 12:01, but that I needed to pay for it before 10:00?

The guy at my Gamestop said I could pay for it and get a Number, so when I show up at midnight, I just flash my number and get that place in line. Then since I paid for it, I walk up to the register when it is my turn they hand me the game, and I walk out.

Not sure if it makes that much sense, but they say with the pre-ordered, pre-paid midnight line, they can go through a couple hundred people in no time.

So seems to work for them. <shrug>

Sorry for my ignorance but I am just now reading that this is mostly a DX9 game. And it seems my GTX 275 is slightly above recommended specs. I was totally ready to pull the gun on a high end card like the GTX 580 to run this maxed (and to have a good card for the next two years) but it seems there is really no need to upgrade.

So what are you guys going to play this on and what performances are you expecting? Any reviews for the PC that spend some time on performance?

AND... is this going to unlock at midnight tonight?

According to canyourunit I only have 1/4th above the min specs so... I'm still going to buy it ;_;

The weak spots are the cpu and the graphic card...

Recommended: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
You Have: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+

and

Recommended: DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1 GB of RAM (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon HD 4890 or higher)
You Have: ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series

I hope it'll run ok ;_;
