Even if he had this affair, so what? Half of America has had affairs, why would this one matter? We hardly need more evidence at this point that he's a horrible human being. Hell, an affair would practically make him look...normal.

I'm mostly just disappointed that Stormy Daniels had such poor taste.

Nobody seems to have held "it" against Tiger Woods back in the day. I just hope nobody in my circle of friends ever runs for public office because I'll unfortunately be their undoing for similar reasons, and I'd feel bad about that.

Not so much having an affair, although I'm not apt to give a free pass for that either. It's more the $130K payment that raises questions. Willing to bet it came from campaign funds, knowing Trump's predilection for reaching into the till.

Also willing to bet that half of America doesn't pay $130K to hide an affair. Will be interesting to see his wife's reaction. If they let he out of sedation long enough.

If she had peed on him it would make the rumors more widely credited. Plus, she probably carries a lot of credibility with his base.....

I think the big question is whether it was a "dalliance" or whether it was more of an involuntary pussy-grab type situation. The former would probably be a blip. If it's the latter, especially with this payment, could be kindle for restarting a deep examination of Trump's sexual abuse allegations.

I really doubt it. This is really not the kind of thing that Trump wants to play around with (so to speak) during the #MeToo / #TimesUp era. They would rather leak something on almost any other topic.

That said, I do wonder whether a reporter has been sniffing around the subject, and they leaked it now because they figure they'd rather it get out on a Friday afternoon.

I don't necessarily give him a pass for the affair or the cover-up, but they mostly just make me shrug. it's just another example in a loooooooooong line of examples that he is a supremely shitty and awful human being. That's not really newsworthy any more...or maybe I'm just entirely desensitized to his garbage. Especially since the cover-up mostly just seemed to be a payment not to talk about what was a consensual affair. Doesn't sound like there's anything illegal or abusive there that would raise an eyebrow.

I would be rather shocked if we saw any reaction from Melania. I can't imagine a scenario in which this makes a huge impact on how she views Donald, and she already seems to prefers that people pay as little attention to her as possible.

Has there been any confirmation it was consensual? I've only seen it referred to as a "sexual encounter", which doesn't imply consent. I don't think we have enough information to assume it was, and there's certainly reason to think it wasn't.

Trump having an affair doesn't surprise me at all. He's on his third wife because of affairs, it was known. I don't even necessarily think adultery is a disqualifying thing, depending on the situation. It's the fact that the right has long used affairs to pillory opponents, but are giving Trump a free pass that's infuriating. And how quickly they'll forget that they did it and go back to using it as a weapon again.

I was assuming it was, based on that article.

If it wasn't, and turns out to be something other than a consensual affair, then that's an entirely different matter and deserves far more attention.
