First of all damn youse for making me defend this shitbird of the highest order.

As much as I loathe that traitorous twat, I don’t see the racism here. His question is inane, but racist? How?

Maybe I’m missing something.

First black female Supreme Court nominee, first time anyone has asked about LSAT scores. It's assuming that because she is black (and liberal), they are low.

The first thing is that picture. It was picked for pretty obvious reasons to me. It could have been a poster from 40s racist literature. Another angle is the implication that she is a product of affirmative action and therefore must have inferior academic performance. It is truther adjacent "soft" racism. Question her credentials. Compare these comments to traditional criticism of judges where their views on cases are challenged. Tucker blew right past that and decided to go to her basic credentialing as a lawyer. I agree with Hepcat - it is blatant. And it is disgusting.

Replying to ND - I get all that, but he would be pulling his ‘I’m just ASKING!’
BS with any liberal judge nominee. And I can assure you it would be just as petty. And even just as creatively stupid/misleading/irrelevant.

I just don’t think that coming up with new, vapid criticisms is indicative of racism.

He has for sure, in the past blown on the dog whistle, showing what a piece of garbage he is, maybe that’s part of the equation here.

I guess my point is these right wing media assholes have a history of bringing up stupid, petty shit to enrage their rabid base, using ALL the possible dirt to see what will stick. This seems very much in line with their (and his specifically) M.O.

He also mispronounced her name - which normally. I would give the benefit of the doubt about (although you would think a person would check the pronunciation before saying it on TV), but this is Tucker Carlson, where this is just the latest in a long list of racism he's spouted.

While I get what you are saying. This is a danger of the constant attacks. We start to accept them as just more attacks. I'd gently suggest that this one is incredibly blatantly racist. I'm not going to post comparative pictures of 40s racist stereotypes but I'll just say they look like the file photo they chose. That isn't a coincidence.

The likely intentional mispronunciation (which I didn’t even notice until I went back to listen again)is definitely a ‘thing’ many right-wingers do to non-whites in power (so much of that with Kamala Harris, it was disgusting).

BUT this and these asswipes very frequently use the worst pics they can find when they do ‘stories’.

Look at some of the ones they throw up if Biden…always the worst possible expression to indicate whatever fault they are selling on that particular segment.

But I will concede that Carlson specifically has had way too incidents like this to give him a pass.

[George W] Bush headlined a benefit fundraiser for the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, which Gov. JB Pritzker helped build. The governor gave opening remarks before Bush took the stage for a Q&A with museum CEO Susan Abrams.

The Republican former president managed to mix serious comments about Ukraine with takes on Putin, and some humor too. He began by telling a story about once playing host to Putin.

“I introduced Vladimir Putin to Barney, our Scottish terrier, and [Putin] dissed him. A year later, Laura and I go visit Vladimir and his wife — this was before he decided to be with a gymnast 30 years younger — and he says, ‘I want you to meet my dog.’ I said, ‘Yeah, sure.’ And I’ll never forget, out runs a huge Russian hound," Bush said. "And Putin says ‘Bigger, stronger, and faster than Barney.’" (Big laugh from the audience here.)

Bush added: “By the way, I told that to the Canadian prime minister and he said, ‘At least he only showed you his dog.’”

If Dan Rather says it's racist, I'm going to defer to his experience. He's probably interviewed more people than the number of people I've ever met.

I try not to apply the racist label unless I feel something really deserves it. This strikes me as one of those times. At the very least, it's as other's have said, a dog whistle to those who are that watch him.

Not real clear to me why anyone outside of his echo chamber pays any attention to this racist fucktard. If it came out that Jackson scored the highest LSAT scores in history he would just pivot to fraudulent test scores. There is nothing to be gained by proving him wrong.

Financial report
The majority of foreign investments are held in commingled funds managed by UBS Global Asset Management, Baillie Gifford,
Baring Asset Management and BlackRock. In addition to the commingled funds investing in foreign securities, the Retirement
Annuity Trust held $877.2 million associated with foreign interests in American depository receipt investments. These American
depository receipts are securities that are issued by a U.S. bank in place of the foreign stock shares held in trust by that bank,
thereby facilitating the trading of foreign shares in U.S. markets.

THIIIIIISSSSS!!!! Maybe, MAYBE, this gets it through some critical amount of heads that we've been sending $$$ to dictators and douchebags for decades because we can't get off our butts when it comes to renewables. We've ceded panel manufacturing and batteries to China when we should've been locking that down here. I'm no fan of Elon the man, but it's undeniable we would not be where we are in regards to electric vehicles if not for him.

I had to do "probation" and classes in Indiana when I was caught drinking under age in college. It was either go to court or pay a bunch of money and have it wiped off the record. IIRC it was $100/month for 6 months, I had to check in via phone one per month, and I had to pay $400 to take a class on the evils of marajuana (which had nothing to do with my under age drinking ticket but all the alcohol classes were full). I did the class with a friend who got the ticket with me. We spent the rest of the day in a bar across the street from the court building and it is a fond memory worth all the trouble when I look back.

It was completely a money grab, they had the system down to a science.

It still rankles me to this day, $1K was a lot of money for me a back then, I had a job to pay for room an board and barely cleared that. We were camping and I had one beer before the park ranger spring out of the woods. He breathalyzed everyone under 21, everyone else was free to go. I blew .001 or whatever the lowest reading was. A girl I was with blew the same but she cried so he let her go. Probably never would have stood up in court but it wasn't worth fighting when the alternative was "just give us $1000 and we'll forget all about it.".
