I don't think there is a punishment for going to the camp as often as you want. At least I didn't notice one on my playthrough.Kraken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 2:08 am Is there any downside to going to one's campsite really really often? Conversely, does the game track fatigue and punish one for not sleeping enough?
I usually go camping when I take damage after my first short rest. The second short rest is an emergency backup nap that I don't like to rely on.
At my age, I know about emergency naps.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
I made it to Act 3 and was barely through the gates of the city when I just completely stalled out.
It's been months now and I kinda want to go back and pick it up but just don't see myself getting excited about picking it up from there.
On the other hand, I don't know if I want to create a new character and slog my way through the first two acts again just to get to the same point and lose steam again (or even sooner).

And it’s good strategy to visit camp because if you’re in a situation where a thief would come in handy or a big battle is coming up (can’t camp mid battle) you can swap out companions, change equipment if you have some interesting items stockpiled in your camp chest and there’s another resource that I won’t spoil if you haven’t encountered it yet.Scraper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:53 amI don't think there is a punishment for going to the camp as often as you want. Remember that you can go to camp but don’t need to do a long rest, saving your food and drink for when you do need to replenish hit points and spells. Also good to visit camp to chat up your companions. Some conversations raise your reputation with characters, give quest info or can be the building blocks…for love!

When I realized my original team lacked a fighter, I hired Varanna, via Withers. She's a fine warrior who's integral to my party now. But no matter what equipment and armor she's using, her avatar only ever shows her underlying basic clothing. I wonder if that's true of all hirelings or if Varanna is bugged. Since her avatar conveys no information about how she's equipped, I amused myself by removing her clothing and underwear. No other character or NPC reacts in any way to the presence of an attractive naked woman in my party.

That icon is like 10 pixels across and its hover text just says "default." Now I can finally see any of my characters naked and I understand why choosing a penis was part of character setup.

Patch Notes - Patch #7
The patch is up on Steam and GOG, and the game is on sale at 20% off on both platforms. Are you ready to embrace evil? Do you yearn to see the consequences of unleashing your inner jerk?
Great! Because Patch 7 releases on PC, today! And with it come new evil ending cinematics, along with Honour Mode improvements and new Legendary Actions, split screen improvements, a new way to mod your game, and a whole bunch of gameplay improvements and bug fixes.
Mac and console players, this is one of those patches that is so packed with changes and new features - including official modding support for all platforms - that it’s going to take a little longer to get this patch through all the necessary technical checks and requirements and into your hands. Although later than we originally expected, Patch 7 is headed to console and Mac in October, and we will keep you updated with our progress!
Unfortunately, this does mean that console players will not be able to load cross-saves if they come from Patch 7 on PC - and multiplayer between PC and Mac will not be possible. We are still working on bringing crossplay to Baldur’s Gate 3, and like Patch 7, this requires a lot of work and testing before we're prepared to release it into the wild.
We’ve still got a few more patches up our sleeve for Baldur’s Gate 3 - which will include both crossplay and photo mode, alongside other fixes and updates. But eventually all stories must come to an end. As Swen said during last week’s PAX West panel in Seattle - our final live panel for Baldur’s Gate 3 - it’s time for the team to go back to our cave and hang the armour on the wall while we focus on bringing you our next project.

...and the patch broke Baldurs Gate 3 for me. I just tried opening it and I get a generic message about mods or corrupt files causing problems. Of course, I've never modded the game. I'm running a verify integrity check now.
edit: verify didn't help. But it looks like i can just safely ignore the error message as it has a "never show again" option. so far it doesn't seem like my save has been affected in any way.

Yeah Patch 7 is mostly about mod support and more evil endings. Plus more legendary actions for bosses in Honour Mode (no thanks). More nudity. Still no crossplay with consoles but they say that is coming.

It’s a weird message as I have never used a mod of any kind with my game. But it appears it’s just a false positive as I safely ignored it (so far).

Not positive because I just skimmed through the notes. I think it's clothing optional for the sex scenes.

Wait a minute.
I've never done any of the sex scenes in my 6 games that lasted about 10 hours each. So, legitimate question.
The sex scenes were all done with clothes on???

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
I didn't see anything about "more nudity" in the patch notes. They did rename the option for nudity in cinematics:
Whether you embraced absolute power, carried out your father’s will, played as an Origin character or were generally a menace to society, you’ll find Patch 7 now introduces 13 new cinematics that offer varying conclusions to your most evil playthroughs.
If you’re a streamer who is very demure, very mindful, and you use the 'Show Cinematic Nudity' option in the game's settings, it’s worth noting that we’ve now renamed this option to 'Show Sexual and Violent Cinematics' and updated its description to more accurately indicate what it does. This setting toggles explicit content plus a few select moments of extreme violence that may be distressing to some. We might have also embraced corruption a little too much because the new evil ending cinematics have been included in this setting. They really are that evil.
This setting does not affect your adventure, your choices, or your access to romance options; however, it does block sexual content with nudity and particularly violent scenes with gore.
Only if you toggled on the never-nude option.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
New patch out today, you can set up your own porn studio in game now, with a full fledged editor, "ratings" and how digitally nasty you want to get and everything. New camera angles introduced, and much higher res textures on genitalia. Devs said this is finally the product they wanted to put out initially, but were just barely outvoted by the publisher. Their next project is titled "Tunic and Hose Larry in the Land of the Fuckelves".

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
Last night I encountered a bug that cost me the better part of an hour trying to work around. In order to obtain the Spear of Night and end Shadowheart's side quest, you need to find a particular book, "Teachings of Loss, the Nightsinger." I consulted three different walkthroughs that all agreed it was in the same place before concluding that it simply isn't there. To add to the frustration, there are two other "Teachings of Loss" volumes in the room that won't help you. I went to bed last night resigned to playing the encounter over again tonight...but first, to the internet!
Sure enough, if you should happen to kill an enemy too close to the relevant bookshelf, you apparently kill the book, too. So it's apparently a situational bug that most players won't encounter and that I can avoid. Tonight I'll re-fight the battle (which isn't terribly hard), making sure to lure the enemies away from the magic bookcase. Thread is here in case anybody else stumbles upon this post about this bug.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
I am finding some changes since patch 7 (mild spoilers):
The Club of Hill Giant Strength is not where it was, but is a few feet away. Apparently you need to use fire damage to get it.
You can no longer use the big device in the Creche without the scientist assisting you (can't kill her first).
Minor so far, but could prove important in Honour Mode.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3
After 130 hours over the last six months, I've finally finished my first playthrough. I played a lawful good drow half-elf Gloom Stalker because that's pretty much the same character I played for every Infinity Engine game back in the day. By the end of my run, I had saved the world from the Great Design, continued to live my life as a half-elf, and accomplished what I would say are "positive" endings for all my companions.
I've long held up Baldur's Gate 2 as one of my favorite RPGs, and BG3 is a more than worthy successor...all around great game that deserves every bit of praise it has received.
While I am curious about the Dark Urge and an evil path through the game, that's not something I'm likely to pursue any time soon. I enjoyed my time in Baldur's Gate, but it's time to move on to something else for a while...

You are taking your sweet time. Awesome! I’m on 170 hours and am pretty solidly into Act 3. Dealt with the Steel Watch, finished up Nightsong’s quest and resolved Astarion’s quest as well (did that one twice since I reloaded after the choices I made the first time through didn’t sit well with me).
I’m hoping to finish this up in the next week or so to move on to my annual Halloween game. I always like to play something scary this time of year, and I’m thinking it may be the remastered Until Dawn this time around.

I also reloaded that quest because I did not like the resolution. I feel like I wasn't given the information I needed to make a proper choice. It's the only time I did not live with the consequences of my choices.

The one that bugged me (though I never went back with) is the resolution of Shadowheart's quest vis-a-vis her parents. Definitely felt like I wasn't given enough information to make the right choice there. Oh well.Mandeville wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 1:18 pmI also reloaded that quest because I did not like the resolution. I feel like I wasn't given the information I needed to make a proper choice. Re: Baldur's Gate 3
Ran into my first bug in over 120 hours of play time (I took some time off for other games around the 100 hour mark).
There's a button that SHOULD appear on a wall during one quest. But it doesn't. It tells you you found something, but it's not there. It's apparently a known issue for a while now. However, it sounds like I can get access to that area by going outside and looking for a manhole or something.
I just wish I'd know that before I left clicked on literally ever square inch of the damn room.

There is one merchant in Riverton. A couple in Wyrm's Crossing, and several in Baldur's Gate proper. When you reach the Basilisk Gate you can get the Deva Mace (12 - 45 damage + radiant damage). It wasn't intended as loot and they nerfed one method, but another still works:Kraken wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 4:27 pmI find it hard to leave any side quest un-quested. Yeah. The economy is definitely lacking. For some reason I cannot figure out, I am still compelled to loot everything I can get my grubby hands on, but I don't even bother selling it anymore. I have 15K gold and have stopped even trying to find something to spend it on. I just loot stuff now and send it to camp. Guess I'm just a D&D horder.Kraken wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 4:27 pmI find it hard to leave any side quest un-quested. I got a good start on Act 3. Then, after 206 hours played, we moved house…a process that won’t end until tomorrow, and then it will be at least 2-3 more days before I can establish a gaming nest because reasons. I fear that after being away for a week+ I’ll completely forget what I was doing.
Eh, I’ll figure it out again. Not appreciating the enforced break though.
