Oh, I wasn't going to tell Trump supporters. I was going to tell Seth Myers, Colbert, John Oliver, Sam Bee, and Alec Baldwin what they were going to spend their next few years doing and see what they say.

Tell the mainstream media that humoring Trump's vices and exaggerating HRC's peccadillos would be a critical disservice to the Republic.

That seems like a ridiculous amount of lies, even for Trump. However this one has me a bit stunned:
Trump gets big applause for keeping his campaign promise to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, open the embassy there.
He's in...Nashville? Is there something about the demographics of Nashville I'm missing here? Or is this some type of Christian end of days the Mooslims hate it, we're stiggin it to them etc... applause? Not a true excitement over relocation and recognition?

Pretty sure none of them gave a crap about that until Trump made it a stigginit issue and claimed it as a "win".
Now they're suddenly remarkably passionate about the topic.

They do care about it. Conservative Evangelicals make no distinction between the modern state of Israel and biblical Israel. Any modern Middle East policy that vaguely reminds them of the Old Testament gets their vote. Since King David made Jerusalem the capital, Trump is Godly.
It's entirely routine for Evangelicals quote scriptures about Babylonians and Canaanites when complaining about Muslims (even though there were no Muslims in biblical times).

I deleted (because I thought it a tangent) this:
"Conservative Evangelicals see Jews with a mixture of envy (because they were the Chosen People) and contempt (because their fate is to be converted or burn in hell)."
I also worked up a line about religiously sanctioned racism, but I can't remember if I cut that before the initial post.

It’s easy enough to find actual quotes from evangelical leaders that support that. Not sure what em2 was going to rebut.

One score and five percent off, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new giftshop, conceived in personal gain, and dedicated to the proposition that all Donald Trump's (but not JR) are smarter than everyone else.
That sounds like something out of Red Dwarf.
I've heard of it, but never seen it. Should I laugh or be offended?
If you like British humor, it's a good thing. If not, then you should be deeply and personally offended.

NPR
Roseanne Barr says she was "Ambien tweeting" at 2 in the morning when she posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser in the Obama White House, that caused ABC to cancel her TV show.
..
Barr said shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday: "I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter." She then sent dozens of tweets in which she apologized and offered up a number of reasons for her offensive comment.
"It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting — it was memorial day too — I went 2 far & do not want it defended," Barr said in a tweet Tuesday night.

Listing Ambien's actual side effects on its website, the company's warnings and precautions for Ambien include a section on "Abnormal Thinking and Behavioral Changes" — saying the side effects can include a lack of inhibition.
...
Later, Barr denied that she was putting the blame on Ambien, saying it was "just an explanation not an excuse."
...
On Wednesday morning, Barr also invoked President Trump. Barr said, "i feel bad for @POTUS-he goes thru this every single day."

That's really weird how the Ambien she took over the weekend also helped her go back in time and engage in
similar behavior.

I honestly wish they hadn't cancelled her show. This just gives more power to the miscreants worshipping at the First United Church of Trump (FUCT for short) in their constant whining about being victims. They should have just let the bad blood and tension between cast members forced to work with her slowly destroy the show, all while distancing themselves with the standard disclaimer about talent not reflecting the views of management.

I don't think that they had much of a choice. Key producers / writers / staffers were already quitting in droves. They could have replaced them and continued with the show....but I'm sure that attracting talent to the show would've been difficult at best, and would not be a good look for them.
In short, the bad blood and tension (which had already been at work before this latest incident) had *already* destroyed the show. ABC really just declined to rebuild it.

Damn I was close. He's now just complaining that people pick on him and don't get fired. Hating an asshole is not the same thing as saying racist remarks last time I checked. He's so freaking worthless. I don't even want to look up all the crazy stuff I'm sure he said in his rally yesterday. I might break my monitor.

If only there was a T-shirt with a slogan on it that could be used here to help them process what we're all thinking. Maybe something that was sold at a campaign rally? Perhaps phrased in a way that would really assist in understanding. I'm sure it will come to me
eventually.

The talking points seem to be mostly misplaced whataboutism, as far as I can tell:
- Jemele Hill did the same thing and still kept her job. (Narrator: she didn't)
- ESPN didn't fire Keith Olbermann for calling Trump a Nazi. (Narrator: once again, not the same thing)
They mostly seem to be trying to create an false equivalence between calling someone a racist because they say and do racist things (i.e. what Hill and Olbermann did) and actually
saying and doing racist things (i.e. what Roseanne did).
And, of course, Trumpers are buying it 100%.
Yep. They're claiming an equivalence between racism and criticizing the president.
Or not even that. They're implying that the latter is more serious and wrong.
A Trump supporter in-law on my Facebook feed posted a picture of Whoopi Goldberg wearing a shirt with a picture of Donald Trump blowing his brains out with a pistol and the caption "Make America Great Again", and said "Why hasn't The View been canceled???" Obviously the picture was a pretty clear photoshop.

I don't know why I ever read The Fix on the Washington Post (at least they don't have Cillizza anymore), but in one of their posts on this they had
this great section:
Liberals often think Trump supporters such as Barr — and her TV character — are racist because they support racist ideas like those Barr tweeted. Trump supporters are also often viewed as racist because many of them have gone on the record acknowledging the role cultural anxiety plays in their politics.
Those...seem like solid reasons to regard someone as being racist.

The really strange thing about Roseanne's comment is that SHE herself looks a LOT like VJ. I Googled Valerie Jarrett yesterday and searched by images as I do, and there were tons of pics of her and Roseanne cut side by side. When viewed in that format, I can't believe she would write something derogatory about her looks. Especially that one on the bottom left...same facial structure, same eyebrows, VERY similar eye shape, etc.
Self-loathing?
In any case, Jarrett is a LOT more attractive than Barr IMO.

Leave it to Trump to make the CEO job of Disney more respectable and desirable than president of the US.

Trump strong is the equivalent of Bomb Strong or Hurricane Strong.

Fair enough - here is another example. Bolton just installed an anti-muslim nutjob as NSC Chief of Staff. He literally is on record saying absolutely off-the-wall things. I can't get over how much damage can be done in so short a period of time. So much for those checks and balances.
