"Old Man Yells At Cloud" moment here but...I usually get about 6 to 8 texts per day asking me to donate to various Democratic candidates including Kamala, local Nebraska candidates, and a smattering of Arizona Dems since I used to live there. I even get the occasional Repub/Trump plea but those are pretty rare.
In every case I delete and block.
Following the debate though, I have received over twenty just this morning and it's barely 9am.
I've had to turn notifications off since it's been distracting during my work day but I still need to keep my phone in sight as I am expecting some messages today from legitimate sources such as the wife and some contractors.
Hopefully it dies back down to the usual low number of texts in a day or so but for now, fuck off with ya fundraisers.

Your first mistake was giving anyone associated with a political entity your real phone number.
I don't believe I ever did.
I've never donated, never visited, never interacted with any political entity that I'm aware of other than our state government to request our mail in ballots.

Five more texts in the last two hours.
I think maybe they are slowing down as the last one was nearly 30 minutes ago.
I've been getting maybe one a day, 2-3 tops, lately. I just delete and block (all of mine have been from the D side, asking me who I am going to vote for).
Also, I think I may have figured out who sold my info.
I went over my email history and the only political entity I have interacted with was Vote.org back in 2022.
I don't recall giving them my phone number but then, I have trouble remembering where I parked my car so maybe not too surprising.

I never gave anyone my phone info but once I donated to Obama on his first run, it all began. My congress person calls and leaves voicemails every few months about town halls and I get a gazillion texts about taking polls or "do you agree?" Propaganda BS. I don't get them asking for money, though. That was all through the 2010s.
When I went to the mailbox today I had no less than 10 political flyers from the past two days. I don't know how it is in the rest of the country, but here in NC the GOP seems to be dominating the mail game. I'd say 80% of mine are pro-Republican. Of course, it may also be that I'm a registered Democrat so they're flooding me with propaganda. Who knows, they go right in the trash.

Also in NC, and yeah, I've gotten 10-1 print in favor of Trump, all of them screaming about Kamala Harris being bad for the <economy/immigration/insert scare topic here>. I'm technically registered independent (but have voted Dem the last 2 decades+). They're just going all in on print advertising, which is a thing I guess.

Their target demographic is the olds so mail works.

I live in a non-swing state (MA) so thanks to the wisdom of the Founding Fathers in creating the Electoral College, there's no real evidence around here of an election at all.
I used to get a ton of political text messages. Someone used my number and signed me up for the Republican lists using a fake name. I also donated to the Obama campaign and have been getting periodic texts from the dem side as well.
I used to block/delete/mark as spam, but it never helped. I finally started using the unsubscribe link in the text messages, and it actually helped. It took awhile, but I haven’t received a text in months.
Every time I used the unsubscribe link I could get 3-4 text messages confirming I was unsubscribed, so I was probably in their database multiple times.
since I would automatically delete/block, I never noticed if there was an unsubscribe link in any of the messages.
I'll check the next few that I receive.

In my Braintree neighborhood, I am surrounded by trump signs. One more sprouted up while I was gone.
In Pittsfield last weekend, I didn't see a single political sign for either side.
In the lawsuit filed in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis on Monday, the DHL eCommerce unit alleges that MyPillow is in violation of a contract that requires the Minnesota-based company to pay for all parcel delivery services within 15 days of being billed. The lawsuit says they reached a settlement in May 2023 that required MyPillow to pay $775,000 in 24 monthly installments starting in April of this year.
But the lawsuit alleges that MyPillow has made only partial payments on that settlement, totaling $64,583.34, with the last one received on June 6. DHL says it notified MyPillow that it was in default on July 2. The lawsuit seeks $799,925.59, plus interest and attorney fees.
Lindell told The Associated Press on Thursday that he didn’t know what the lawsuit was about, but that his company decided to stop using DHL over a year ago in a dispute over shipments that he said was DHL’s fault.

Like Barron Trump?
I was visiting with my aunt and uncle this weekend. I learned that my cousin's kids went to high school with Baron. I guess they hung out.

Sources with direct knowledge have spoken with Carolina Journal on the condition of anonymity and said that Robinson is under pressure from staff and members of the Trump campaign to withdraw from the governor’s race due to the nature of the story, which they say involves activity on adult websites in 2000s.
According to sources, Robinson has resisted withdrawing and privately denies the story.
In an email to Carolina Journal shortly after this story posted, Michael Lonergan, communications director for the Mark Robinson for Governor campaign wrote, “Whomever your sources are here, it is complete fiction.”
The rub:
Thursday evening is the state deadline to withdraw from the race. The deadline to remove Robinson’s name from the ballot already has passed. There are just four weeks to go until early voting, and absentee ballots are due to go in the mail Friday.
According to the sources, the campaign of Attorney General Josh Stein, Robinson’s opponent in the race for North Carolina’s Executive Mansion, leaked the story to CNN and local Raleigh news outlet, WRAL. It is expected to hit airwaves later on Thursday.
Also according to the anonymous source, earlier this week leaders in the Trump campaign privately told Robinson that he was not welcome at rallies for Trump or vice presidential candidate JD Vance. He was slated to speak at the Vance appearance on Wednesday, but his office announced that Robinson had tested positive for COVID.
Involves activity? From 20 years ago? That's a pretty broad brush. I'd have to think it would be something big for the dimwit dou to distance themselves from him.
Source familiar w/ forthcoming CNN story says revelations about Robinson include him saying things in online chats about liking transgender porn, peeping inside women’s locker rooms while he studied at NC A&T and wanting to own slaves.
Apparently he also called himself a Nazi and made jokes about rape. And the online chats were on discussion boards dedicated to porn, where he posted between 2008 and 2012.
I wonder if there's still more to come. He has already been trailing his Dem opponent by 10 points or so, and he has said things just as bad as these comments *during this election cycle.*
Mark Robinson, the controversial and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a series of inflammatory comments on a pornography website’s message board more than a decade ago, in which he referred to himself as a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for reinstating slavery, a CNN KFile investigation found.
Despite a recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric, Robinson said he enjoyed watching transgender pornography, a review of archived messages found in which he also referred to himself as a “perv.”
...
Many of Robinson’s comments on Nude Africa stand in contrast to his public stances on issues such as abortion and transgender rights.
Publicly, Robinson has fiercely argued that people should use bathrooms only that correspond to the gender they were assigned at birth. He’s also said transgender women should be arrested for using women’s restrooms.
“If you’re a man on Friday night, and all the sudden Saturday, you feel like a woman, and you want to go in the women’s bathroom in the mall, you will be arrested, or whatever we gotta do to you,” Robinson said at a campaign rally in February 2024. “We’re going to protect our women.”
Yet privately under the username minisoldr on Nude Africa, Robinson graphically described his own sexual arousal as an adult from the memory of secretly “peeping” on women in public gym showers as a 14-year-old. Robinson recounted the story as a memory he said he still fantasized about.
“I came to a spot that was a dead end but had two big vent covers over it! It just so happened it overlooked the showers! I sat there for about an hour and watched as several girls came in and showered,” Robinson wrote on Nude Africa.
An email address belonging to North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson was registered on Ashley Madison, a website designed for married people seeking affairs.
An adviser to Robinson, granted anonymity to speak freely, confirmed to POLITICO that the email address in question belongs to Robinson.
The discovery of Robinson’s personal email address on Ashley Madison came as Republicans in North Carolina on Thursday cringed after CNN uncovered old posts purportedly made by Robinson on online pornographic forums — and as his chances of winning the governor’s race appear increasingly grim. Robinson recorded an interview with CNN set to air Thursday evening, denying various allegations against him of other online activities, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

I've been watching this with a big bucket of popcorn. Couldn't have happened to a better guy.
I'm REALLY hoping this jackass costs Trump NC and gives Harris a landslide victory. That would be sweet justice.
Same here, it just goes to show what a total hypocrite he is - wife had an abortion, he preaches small govt yet his wife's business relied upon govt contracts and now we know he's not the fine upstanding moral man he pretends to be. Here's hoping he drags down the entire ticket.
