I find longer words easier than short ones.

Can someone give me the brief runedown?
Each day you get a new puzzle. You have 6 guesses to get a 5 letter word. On each guess, you will be told if a letter is not in the word (gray box), in the word but you don't have it in the right spot (yellow box) or in the word and you have it in the right spot (green box). That's it. A fun 10 minute break in the day.

This is misleading in a way, since I tried a ton of options between 2 and 3 that weren't real words. I was pretty much trying to guess where letters 4 and 5 could and couldn't potentially go (just based on which letters can't really be next to each other in the English language).

quern is not a word that's even part of my lexicon but I get fixated on things and I was running through words that end in ern as I hadn't chosen the letter N yet. Query was not only a more reasonable word, it would have taken Y and U and demonstrated their presence or absence but I was stuck in "ern" words mode.

There are a lot of words that end with the three letters I placed correctly on the third try, but the eliminated letters narrowed it down.
