jztemple2 wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:04 pm I'm seriously considering getting a Steam Deck to play Door Kickers 2 when it hits 1.0 release, but I know zilch about the decks. Is there an up to date guide on which deck version to get and must have accessories?
If you're thinking about purchasing a Steam Deck, I highly recommend checking out the following informative purchasing guide. It offers a comprehensive overview of the different versions of the Steam Deck, highlights its key features and benefits, and discusses the usefulness of various Steam Deck accessories. So it's particularly useful for prospective buyers who want to understand what they can expect from the device. Have a butcher's at the video here:

Thanks for the info, I'll check out the video, although I'm leery of any adult who wears a backwards baseball cap indoors.

Granted, it's the headwear of choice for those who've decided to embrace their inner teenager, even if their hairline hasn't quite gotten the memo. But try not to let the host's apparent readiness for a spontaneous game of basement beer pong put you off from his Steam Deck guidance. ;)

I watched the video and got a lot of good info from it, so thanks for providing the link.

for an American game company, they really are doing the right things with their 'gaming platform', in many ways.

if only the Steam Deck had a slide out keyboard, it would be perfect (i have an old mini Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad/sorta-game-controller that works fine with it, but the "Y" key is stuck and i still haven't figured out how to disassemble the keyboard to fix it)
If you're after a portable keyboard and trackpad solution for your Steam Deck, I suggest considering the iClever BK08 Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad, especially while it's available from Amazon with a Black Friday discount:
Was going to make a joke about it not having a num-pad but it turns out there is a version with the num-pad. I ended ordering one and it and it works great.

256GB LCD. Basic model
i got one of these second-hand, and the previous owner had already upgraded the storage to a 1TB card (but it's very easy to do yourself). i'm perfectly fine with it - no real need for OLED.

THIS IS THE THING THAT SHOCKS ME THE MOST I THINK. I was thinking about it and just going, "How????"

That's great.

Just saw an article - you can get refurbs direct from Valve now:
The Steam Deck OLED, the best version of Valve’s gaming handheld with additional battery life, a slight increase to performance, and an eye-popping screen, can now be purchased refurbished for $110 less than it costs brand-new.

Valve has just begun selling certified refurbished Steam Deck OLED models starting at $439 in the US, UK, Canada, and EU. That buys you the 512GB model with a glossy screen, while the 1TB anti-glare model can be had for $519 — less than the $549 you’d pay to get even the 512GB model brand-new. (The 1TB model normally costs $649.

I've never price watched this thing before. Does it go on sale during the steam sales?

Steamdb seems to suggest that they do.

I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules but if anyone is interested, I'm selling my Steam Deck 512 GB LCD, very lightly and in very good condition. Bought it in 8/2023 and replaced it with an OLED version in 11/2023 after less than 3 months. Happy to sell it for considerably less than the refurbished ones listed above (plus shipping) - send me a message if you are interested.

No sale on these :(

ChuckB, I'll be holding out for a new one, unfortunately, but good luck!
