Re: [WW] STARSHIP R.SCOTT II - Day Two
information is all we have to fight with. How is it a hazard for us if it is what you said it is? He can't really be considered to be on team convict anyway, despite what the victory conditions say.

I resent his implication that I was lying about his edit, but I do want to maximize our chances of winning the game, which is why it's a grey area.

i doubt he is alien as well, but that bandwagon got going quick once some cons got convinced it was the best play.Lassr wrote:your radar is busted real good ain't it.stessier wrote:I think the Hacker should scan Lassr tonight if Remus comes up good.

The question is what do we do tomorrow when the symbi locks down a con and the corps refuse to unlock him? What do we do if the symbi does a scan?
Stess can you at least consider voting for a jarhead tomorrow as they will no longer be proven human? I would say Chaos as he still has a good chance at being an alien but i doubt there would be any traction for that as it keeps the symbi victory in play if Chaos isn't converted.

I already gave my advice on what to do tomorrow. I'm dead. Stabbed in the back by 2 of my own. Why would I give you more?Brendan wrote:Remus, care to reveal if you were the alien or not?
stessier, I was fine when you said you thought I was the alien but you more recent posts about "piling through the Cons" is just playing to lose for your side. Sort of like pr0ner gets props for his actions in the Light/Dark game from some people. In the end pr0ner lost. He cost his team a victory so people can praise him all they want but in reality all he did was go down in flames. Play to win not play against one side regardless of what it does to your actual team. If you still feel I'm the Alien thats fine and I'm alright with that vote. If you voted me just to kill a Convict and move towards a human victory over trying for a Convict victory......well, if that is the case I hope you share a cell with Brendan when this is all over.

I had to go back a couple of pages to find your advice Remus, but at least we are on the same wavelength. Preferred target for us is a jarhead when it comes up after CC.

its just a game, dont let it get to you or take it personally though. am sure we'll have some laughs when this is over. I will say certain mechanics can make this game frustrating, but thats for teh breakdown.Brendan wrote:If Remus gets voted off today (and isn't a sole alien), I'm done contributing to this game.
It occurs to me that stessier could be an unrevealed engineer who is content to let sole alien Chaosraven sit in plain sight, but that defies the probabilities.

2) Stessier
3) Tru1cy
4) Brendan.
You might, in the interest of whatever also consider scanning chaosraven.

Scoop, in future, this game should distinguish not between convicts and corp, but between two completely different and warring alien races, so that people can't take this notion of some sort of "lesser victory" to heart because they adopt some notion from the flavor text over the actual rules.

yeah, but the warring alien races will have to look identical or it will be easy to tell them apart.Brendan wrote:Scoop, in future, this game should distinguish not between convicts and corp, but between two completely different and warring alien races, so that people can't take this notion of some sort of "lesser victory" to heart because they adopt some notion from the flavor text over the actual rules.

Totally distinct, but BLIND, alien races, both of whom have an aversion to prolonged tactile feedback.Lassr wrote:yeah, but the warring alien races will have to look identical or it will be easy to tell them apart.Brendan wrote:Scoop, in future, this game should distinguish not between convicts and corp, but between two completely different and warring alien races, so that people can't take this notion of some sort of "lesser victory" to heart because they adopt some notion from the flavor text over the actual rules.

Re: [WW] STARSHIP R.SCOTT II - Day Two
This game has a distinct edge to it (unlike many of the other WW games) BECAUSE of the Faction Aspect.
For example, the Lt/Dk Game had the potential for a player to switch sides numerous times.
In this one, the only way to switch sides is to get Converted to the Alien side.
The Faction sparring serves as the avenue to winning for Symbiont.

As I said, I'm fine with stessier voting for me if he felt I was the Alien - which he has said. I'm not fine with his proposal to simply rip through the Convicts and thus cost his team any shot at winning.

Re: [WW] STARSHIP R.SCOTT II - Convicts Win!!!
Wow, THAT was a crazy game. You guys were all over the place. Man, it was really hard to keep with all the drama and also work has been really busy for me.
You guys pointed out a bunch of rulez holes I need to plug for the next iteration but I also see a few ways I can improve things.
I really feel like I haven't made the symbiont what he needs to be. I think letting him scan was a mistake. I'd really like to see him blindly locking people down. I need to find a way to make him more disruptive but still have an opportunity to win.
Unagi killing the mother alien REALLY changed the complexion of the game. Remus really had no chance though I thing he made a valiant effort. He made a good suggestion that if the mother alien is killed on Day one, that after one day if the baby survives he is able to convert on Day three. I think this is a very useful change although it wouldn't have changed the outcome of this game.
I understand people were getting frustrated with each other and I certainly don't want to cause hard feelings but the frustration is exactly the EDGE I want in this game. Two sides that need to work together however working together is exactly the opposite of what they really want to do which is kill the other side. That mechanic continues to work well.
Any other suggestions?

Actual text of the post that stessier edited:
"In case Remus isn't the Alien, I don't want to hold anything up. Scan Lassr please."
Why'd you change it to "I think the Hacker should scan Lassr tonight if Remus comes up good."?

Well, if he actually thought Remus was the alien then it was the perfect strategy...it just seems at the end that might not have been his motivation.Brendan wrote:Like this in any way validates your strategy? Even a stopped clock, blah, blah blah.stessier wrote:HA!

I would argue that it was still bad "strategically," in that my proposal to eliminate one/both of the engineers would've resulted in a game where we could've spent some actual time investigating people rather than firing blindly. I'd have happily voted for Remus on the following day if he weren't scanned by the hacker.Lassr wrote:Well, if he actually thought Remus was the alien then it was the perfect strategy...it just seems at the end that might not have been his motivation.Brendan wrote:Like this in any way validates your strategy? Re: [WW] STARSHIP R.SCOTT II - Convicts Win!!!
As much as i hate to admit it, i was planning on backstabbing you (team convict). At some point yesterday (cc2) i was negotiating in good faith, and was intending on cooperating, but the tone of some of team con really made me start doubting wether i wanted to and i started thinking in "screw them" mode. So during the course of the day it basically changed from yes i fully intend on cooperating...to going..no i think i should give em a dose of comeuppance. That's what my post was all about last night, since I didnt want unagi to bend his vote due to "sympathy" or RL emotions (much like when i was legion and really did play on RL emotions). I wanted you folks playing the game roles.stessier wrote:Out of curiosity, Chaos and Newcastle - what would you have done if I was locked down tonight? Or really, any Convict was locked down?
I will say this...game play wise i was looking forward to trying to eek out a win for team corp and i had a few other machinations/strategies in mind for achieving that. Personality wise, I was not looking forward to basically saying one thing than acting another...ie breaking my deal with you guys..since i knew you guys would be pissed, and i didnt want any questions of me playing on yoru guys "emotions" much like the decency angle Unagi pointed out.
So needless to say i am actually quite happy the game ended today.
I think this rule set has to change, because i honestly was starting to get annoyed at the "bickering". It made sense for team con to off a team corp today, truly it did and if i was on team con, i probably would have been advocating that.
At the same time, crushing team corp underneath their feet, really doesnt endear team con to team corp. Which in effect you would do...i mean going for your victory conditions is what you should have been doing, and that is totally cool game mechanic wise....coming from a team corp view point, it kills any desire in cooperating.
And i was actually serious in much rather lose today in a hunt for the alien (as it played out) rather than in a slow, decaying, nibbling death. Much rather take the pain fast rather than quickly.

Just drawing whatever fire might be focusing on the Hacker. I wanted someone to see it and then change it (gentleman's edit rule really shouldn't constrain a Convict after all). If it makes you feel better, I thought you were very likely human after you didn't show the cached image.Brendan wrote:Actual text of the post that stessier edited:

Why'd you change it to "I think the Hacker should scan Lassr tonight if Remus comes up good."?

If I got locked down, I thought the Corps would let me out. If I got converted, then at least I was out of that mess.

I would suggest 3 total aliens (starting with one). Mama infects . Then offspring or mama infects and then it's through because without hitting the mama to start it would have been near impossible to win.Scoop20906 wrote:Wow, THAT was a crazy game.
Any other suggestions?
Or have a way to make some humans immune each night if she can continuously infect.

I was very tempted to post it due to my gentlemanly instincts (ask the ladies!), but I let the devil on my shoulder convince me that I'd be screwing the hacker, and that even if the hacker was a f%@$ing moron for airlocking Remus, it would not do to pull a Semaj and off my own (and only) special.
