It's important that mass killings by racists and Trump supporters not interfere with the rallies.

So how many groups has Trump alienated (so far)?

Women check
Hispanics check
Blacks check
Jews check
LBGT check
Muslims check

Who is still in his corner?

Rich white fuks
Hillbillies

If the Democrats blow this they deserve the results.

President Trump began his first public appearance after Friday’s arrest of a mail bomb suspect on a seemingly inclusive note, declaring as he read a script from teleprompters that “we must never allow political violence to take root in America” and pledging to “stop it and stop it now.”

But then he kept going.

Standing in the White House’s ornate East Wing, the president expressed annoyance that numerous bombs sent to Democrats and a news organization that Trump had long demonized had taken the spotlight from his Medicare drug prices announcement the day before. He told the audience of young black leaders he was addressing that the Democratic Party has betrayed them. He laughed along as some in the crowd chanted “Fake News!” And he echoed a chant of “Lock him up!” about liberal philanthropist George Soros, one of this week’s bomb targets.
...
Later Friday afternoon, as he departed Washington for a rally in Charlotte, Trump told reporters he has no plans to tone down his rhetoric — “I could really tone it up,” he said — and noted that the suspect “was a person that preferred me over others.” He also rejected the notion of responsibility: “There’s no blame. There’s no anything.”

He is quite simply incapable of accepting any responsibility for his actions, nor is he capable of actually seeing any fault within himself. He is not only a horrible leader, he's a goddamn sociopath.

...although I think sociopaths probably have more integrity.

The English language doesn't have escalations beyond those terms that could be applied for what's been happening in the US. I agree that the usage has diluted them, and that in itself is ... depressing.

So now he's race-baiting Andrew Gillam, calling him a "thief". Trump is basically a 4chan troll at this point. He's doing a lot of trolling this morning-- probably a mix of election strategy and a bit of being defensive about current events. I guess being racist when being accused of being racist is his act of defiance.

The way they have - and continue to - warp the definition to be "FAKE NEWS = anything that I don't like and/or is critical of Trump" continues to be horrifying. Especially since there is no end in sight.

The blind allegiance to Dear Leader and the way people are allowing that devotion to entirely define who they are is baffling to me.

Most Republicans would say anyone who raises taxes is a thief. Also, Tallahassee is part of a federal corruption probe.

Trump is an idiot. He saw DeSantis on Fox and Friends where he said, "“Why the heck would law enforcement send an undercover agent to line [Gillum's] pockets if he wasn’t under investigation? Of course he is,”

I think race-baiting is a stretch.

He doesn't call any other Democrat a "thief". His prior tweet just minutes before was about "gang members" in the caravan, you know, the one a few days ago he claimed was full of middle easterners.

IMO, it's no longer a stretch to see these attacks as race-baiting. He has a history. Perhaps I'd give somebody else without this history the benefit of the doubt for calling Gillam a "thief", but not Trump. He knows what he's doing.

It's general knowledge that racists equate black people with crime. You don't have to be a racist yourself to understand that. Just this past weekend SNL made a joke about Trump "clearing valuables off of his desk" before the Kanye meeting.

Maybe he meant it that way, maybe he didn't. But when a guy who does racist things and says racist things about minorities ALL THE TIME says something that can be construed to be race-baiting, I'm going to call him out on it. It's not my fault his behavior up to this point has not allowed me to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't know that it matter much at the end of the day. You wouldn't go broke betting that something Trump said has racist intent behind it, but who knows exactly what he's thinking here.

The other thing is that there is a federal criminal investigation that implicates Gillum. At least part of Trump's intent is probably to just say that he's a criminal repeatedly, which will tend to focus people's minds on that investigation.

If there's one thing that Trump understands (and there probably is exactly one thing that he understands), it's the power of branding. He just needs something marginally reality-based to latch on to, and then he can drive a truck through it by just repeating an associated label over and over again.

I agree. If he had said “thug” I would agree with the race baiting accusation but thief is pretty race neutral. There is a corruption case swirling around Gillum so to call him a thief does not appear to have a racial connotation to me.

This is Trump race baiting, "Many Gang Members and some very bad people are mixed into the Caravan heading to our Southern Border. These theories about why Trump said it are also not contradictory. Calling Gillum a thief, even in the absence of evidence, helps brand him as a criminal and associate the public's mind with the criminal case involving him. Trump clearly also thinks of black people as criminals or potential criminals as well, and that's another reason for Trump to call Gillum a thief. Whether Trump's motivation is 80% the former and 20% the latter, or vice versa, doesn't really matter much.
