The Trump administration is bracing for a massive staff shake-up in the weeks following the midterm elections, as the fates of a number of Cabinet secretaries and top White House aides are increasingly uncertain heading into a potentially perilous time for President Trump.

Some embattled officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, are expected to be fired or actively pushed out by Trump after months of bitter recriminations. Others, notably Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, may leave amid a mutual recognition that their relationship with the president has become too strained. And more still plan to take top roles on Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign or seek lucrative jobs in the private sector after nearly two years in government.

Trump has forever destroyed any polls on worst President of all time. If they made a Mount Rushmore of bad Presidents they would have to put up five Trumps. So much winning.

What is insane to me is that I have acquaintances who think he is one of the greatest. Often they were former friends but boy did that change when somehow Trump got them to show their true colors.

Random story associated with that song:

I had a good friend and co-worker who died in a motorcycle accident in his early 40s. He was the guy that got me into running and working out.

A couple of weeks after he died, I was in my garage running on the treadmill. As I'm running, I started thinking about him and some of the tips he'd give me when running. All of a sudden a battery-powered radio on a shelf in the garage suddenly turned on. The song it was blasting? "Only the Good Die Young."

I don't believe in ghosts, but that was damn spooky.

Did I miss this somewhere?

https://www.npr.org/2018/11/03/66393306 ... judge-says
A lawsuit accusing President Trump of violating the constitution's emoluments clause can proceed, a federal judge said Friday. Never before has an emoluments case gone to trial in the U.S.

Federal District Judge Peter Messitte denied Trump's request for a stay and ordered the two parties to begin the discovery process.

The ruling means the plaintiffs, the attorneys general of Maryland and Washington, D.C., have some power to obtain documents from the president and his business ventures. Trump notably has not released his tax returns and has maintained ownership of his businesses.
/wonders how quickly this gets advanced to Supreme Court and Kavenaugh shits all over it with "I was a different person when I was Clinton impeachment attach dog working for Rove and McConnell under Starr. You don't go after sitting presidents."

I didn't think he would freak out this badly - just kidding! This is going to get ugly quick.

Edit: If you didn't see his press conference today - it was off the rails. The press was lambasting him and he was clearly losing his mind.

I had read even a couple of weeks ago that he was expected to leave one way or the other, after the midterms. Also a few others, including Sec of Homeland Security Nielsen. Expect more "leavings" this week.

Cornered badger time. Not only does Trump now have a House against him, just salivating at the chance to open investigations, he knows that now that mid-terms are over Mueller is free to unleash whatever he's been sitting on for the past two months.

My only consolation is that Trump's actions totally point to him being guilty as sin. People with nothing to hide don't do everything in their power to shut down investigations against them.

Expecting people leaving after mid-terms? Sure it was expected. Even normal. However, Trump giving some unhinged press conference and then announcing Jeff Sessions was "resigning" by afternoon the next day. Not so much.

Unfortunately, that's very normal. Also a questionable firing/resigning? Par for this dark, dark timeline's course.

"Two days ago, Gabriel Sherman reported that White House officials are concerned about Donald Jr. “I’m very worried about Don Jr.,” a former West Wing official told Sherman, who fears Mueller will be able to prove perjury. Deep in a report about Trump’s 2020 campaign plans, Politico drops the news this morning that Trump Jr. “has told friends in recent weeks that he believes he could be indicted.”

If it’s what you’re saying, we love it."

There is a report (one! - fwiw) that Whitaker has already taken over the Russia investigation and Rosenstein is on his way to the White House for an unrelated meeting. Let's see if we get a constitutional crisis the day after the House takeover. Trump intentionally bypassed Rosenstein who would ordinarily be Acting AG.

Also interesting note, the Sessions resignation letter isn't dated.

Also interesting that the letter specifies "At your request, I am submitting my resignation." That's pretty specific, and changes it from a resignation into a firing.

The important thing about a resignation - even one demanded - is that the President then has the authority to choose the replacement at will. Allowing him to elevate Whitaker over Rosenstein. This is all calculated. Whitaker has comments out in the public record indicating bias against the Russia investigation. Does anyone think he got the job without Whitaker telling Trump that he would protect him? It is pretty much the only reason Trump is mad at Sessions. Sessions pretty much implemented every crooked and twisted scheme that Trump asked for.
