Thank god Trump is going to get to the bottom of this controversy. After meeting with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower Tuesday, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. told reporters that Trump has asked him to "chair a commission on vaccination safety and scientific integrity" and that he has accepted. Both Trump and Kennedy have spread fringe theories linking vaccines to autism in children, an idea that medical experts overwhelmingly reject and have warned is endangering public health by discouraging parents from immunizing their kids. "President-elect Trump has some doubts about the current vaccine policies and he has questions about it," Kennedy told the press. "He says his opinion doesn't matter ... but the science does matter, and we ought to be reading the science and we ought to be debating the science." But despite decades of scientific evidence proving that vaccinations for children are safe, Kennedy drew fire last year for describing a "holocaust" of children allegedly hurt by immunization (he later apologized for the term).

I'm sure the good people of Arkansas - currently experiencing the largest outbreak of the Mumps in ~7 years will be thankful.malchior wrote:Thank god Trump is going to get to the bottom of this controversy.
I think that's my plan for 2017. I may or may not try to plan around turbulence but I fear 2017 is going to be dramatically up year that we are going to feel later, which means I get money put in SPY/VT/VTI right about the time the mass of investment realizes the cake is lie. It seems like a good time to either play the game of Trump and the Republican House or hide your money in a mattress. The Meal wrote:Indicies "Indexes".
Well, that's the plan right? Make health care unattainable. Make people believe it unworthy of their money. And then release an a deadly virus on the weak and uninsured poor.Blackhawk wrote:Twitter isn't distracting enough. Perhaps an epidemic would do the trick? Of course, as the notice points out, those who have been immunized fall but get sick fall into the 12% that will get it. All this means is that many more people have been exposed but protected. Which all goes back to why everyone needs the vaccine because one person exposed to 100 people vaccinated will result in 12 of them getting the disease. Back we go to herd immunity.Throughout this outbreak, 90% to 95% of school-aged children and 30% to 40% of adults involved in the outbreak have been fully immunized.
I would look for fourth qtr earnings release. 2/9 I think. I've been watching them out of curiosity and they have pretty much been holding around 70 since the Breitbart tiff. They slightly beat expectations last quarter. I am curious if 4th qtr comes up lower.LordMortis wrote:So you're saying hold off until after Trump threatens them via twitter?Rip wrote:Yeah, invest in Kraft.

Honestly - every year has more upside now - capital has generally won. Owners of capital are going to extract greater and greater rents from the economy. Consider that this election has been tilted due to the effect of 'globalization' on the populace even though it was 85% automation. The idiot electorate don't realize that the outcome of this election has only entrenched this likelihood even more. The "populism" that has seized the land is nothing more than plutocracy with a "friendler" face. They'll be announcing all the jobs that come back - even if they would have anyway - and even if it is only because capital has finally got their house in order and labor costs are mostly irrelevant now.LordMortis wrote:I think that's my plan for 2017. Any Trump tantrum between now and then would certainly push them down enough that someone expecting them to do well could get a cheap buy. A buy in the low 60s would certainly be hard to resist.

Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.
One reason the nation's intelligence chiefs took the extraordinary step of including the synopsis in the briefing documents was to make the President-elect aware that such allegations involving him are circulating among intelligence agencies, senior members of Congress and other government officials in Washington, multiple sources tell CNN.
The raw memos on which the synopsis is based were prepared by the former MI6 agent, who was posted in Russia in the 1990s and now runs a private intelligence gathering firm. His investigations related to Mr. Trump were initially funded by groups and donors supporting Republican opponents of Mr. Trump during the GOP primaries, multiple sources confirmed to CNN. Those sources also said that once Mr. Trump became the nominee, further investigation was funded by groups and donors supporting Hillary Clinton.
One high level administration official told CNN, "I have a sense the outgoing administration and intelligence community is setting down the pieces so this must be investigated seriously and run down. I think [the] concern was to be sure that whatever information was out there is put into the system so it is evaluated as it should be and acted upon as necessary."

So glad the FBI went public about the second, meaningless investigation into Hillary's emails but kept quiet about this until after the election. The two-page synopsis also included allegations that there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government, according to two national security officials.
Sources tell CNN that these same allegations about communications between the Trump campaign and the Russians, mentioned in classified briefings for congressional leaders last year, prompted then-Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid to send a letter to FBI Director Comey in October, in which he wrote, "It has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government -- a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States."

‘What’s the Big Deal?’ Ask Trump Voters on Russia Hacking Report
By CAMPBELL ROBERTSON and JAN. 7, 2017
COVINGTON, La. — “Sour grapes,” explained Bob Marino, 79, weighing in on the recent spycraft bombshell from the corner table of a local McDonald’s.
“Sour grapes,” agreed Roger Noel, 65, sitting next to him.
“Bunch of crybabies,” Reed Guidry, 64, offered from across the table.
The subject of conversation was the report released by United States intelligence chiefs on Friday informing President-elect Donald J. Trump of their unanimous conclusion that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia ordered an extensive, but covert, cyberoperation to help Mr. Trump win the election. The Russians had hacked and leaked emails, unleashed “trolls” on social media and used their “state-run propaganda machine” to spread stories harmful to Hillary Clinton.
In Washington, the report was viewed as extraordinary, both for its timing, raising sharp questions about the president-elect’s legitimacy on the verge of his taking office, and for its assertions, describing the operation as Russia’s boldest effort yet to meddle with American elections, to spread discontent and to “undermine the U.S.-led democratic order.”
David Gubert, on possible Russian interference: “If that’s what it took, I’m glad they did it.” William Widmer for The New York Times
But interviews with Trump supporters here in Louisiana, a state the president-elect won by 20 points, and in Indiana, a state he won by nearly the same margin, found opinions about the report that ranged from general indifference to outright derision.
